Dinh Duc Canh, Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee, said the 2025 efforts will continue to focus on mobilising resources to eradicate substandard housing for poor and near-poor households, as well as families of revolution contributors. The province guarantees a minimum support level of 60 million VND (nearly 2,360 USD) for new house construction and 30 million VND for house repairs.

Between 2021 and 2023, the VFF committees at all levels, in collaboration with member organisations, have built and repaired 3,807 houses worth nearly 400 billion VND for poor and near-poor households and those in particularly difficult circumstances.

As part of the campaign to eliminate substandard housing, local authorities have approved support for the construction and repair of 1,396 houses in 2024. They include 968 houses for poor and near-poor families, 233 others for revolution contributors’ families, and 195 for ethnic minority ones and those residing in mountainous areas.

By December 31, Bac Giang aims to finish the construction and repair of 195 houses for impoverished ethnic minority households and low-income Kinh ethnic families in particularly disadvantaged areas, fulfilling 100% of the year’s target.

Besides the approved projects, socio-political organisations and the provincial Military Command have aided the construction and repair of 307 additional houses via the national target programme for sustainable poverty reduction (2021 - 2025) in Son Dong, a mountainous and poor district in Bac Giang./.
