Blood donation for life saving is a noble deed that is always cherished. Bau Bang district Red Cross always identifies voluntary blood donation movement as one of the key activities in their operation. The association seeks ways and innovations in propaganda to attract more and more people to this significant movement, especially workers in local enterprises.
Every day, every hour, every minute in our country there are thousands of unfortunate fate needing blood transfusions to sustain life. However, the blood bank has not yet met the demands of the whole society for blood transfusion. With voluntary blood donation movement as a core activity of the Red Cross, in recent years, Bau Bang district Red Cross Association has focused on raising people's awareness of the noble meaning of blood donation, directly contributing to risk and sympathy sharing with disadvantaged fates, difficult situations due to accidents, diseases, contributing to the State’s social policy implementation.

With flexible propaganda forms, Bau Bang district Red Cross Association completed goals of blood donation mobilizing. In addition to mobilizing people, officials and employees, the mobilization of workers in local enterprises to respond and participate in the voluntary blood donation was enhanced, contributing positively to the overall mobilization results of the district, achieving and exceeding objectives set by provincial Steering Committee.
Nguyen Van Tinh, Vice Chairman of the district Red Cross Association, said that in order to achieve the above results, the association actively cooperated with Voluntary blood donation’s Steering Committee, especially with members as leaders of the district Labor Federation, to strengthen propaganda activities on the meaning of voluntary blood donation among enterprises in the area in various forms, such as leaflets, hanging banners and direct meetings with Executive committee of Trade Unions to popularize the meaning and interests of voluntary blood donation; take advantage of the support of business leaders in mobilizing and organizing voluntary blood donation right at enterprises.
For example, at RK Resources Company in Bau Bang industrial park, after the propaganda, from directors to staff at departments, workshops actively participated in blood donation, become a good example for all workers. Therefore, every session of voluntary blood donation held at the company attracted hundreds of employees, contributing significantly to the movement.
Due to close cooperation with enterprises through Trade Union’s Executive Committees, Bau Bang Red Cross Association mobilized a large number of collectives, workers in each workshop, each shift, and each production line to join the voluntary blood donation. The time arrangement for voluntary blood donation in a reasonable manner (usually on Sundays) also concerned the association in order not to affect the production of businesses. Propaganda and cooperation with Trade Unions in enterprises to organize blood donation and care for blood donors was also focused to attract more and more employees. "Blood donors are taken care like: giving iron tablets to female employees before donating blood, nutritious drinks after blood donation. In addition, we also organize fun activities for employees while participating in blood donation, such as lucky draws with valuable gifts, or Q&A about traffic safety, the meaning of voluntary blood donation, regulations on rights and obligations of workers... The results of voluntary blood donation were recorded and reported to steering committees for timely commendation of collectives and individuals. Workers, who participated many times in voluntary blood donation, were also honored to encourage the movement in each enterprise. Therefore, the mobilization of voluntary blood donation in enterprises in the area has maintained and is growing more and more", said Mr. Tinh.
In 2015, the whole district completed 105% the assigned target (840/800), of which the blood received from labor force in companies accounted for 24%; in 2016, reached 107.6% target (969/900), of which blood received from labor force in companies accounted for 26.4%; in 2017, reached 110.8% target (1,108/ 1,000), of which blood received from labor force in companies accounted for 24.4%. At some local enterprises, the Red Cross received a high sympathy from business leaders with the movement.
