Lending to the right objects
As one of the households that have access to preferential loans from 2021 with the amount of VND 500 million, Ha Viet Tien's family in Hamlet 5 of Hung Hoa Commune has built a spacious house on 75 square meters. Tien said that both husband and wife work as rubber latex tapping workers with a total income of VND 12-14 million, just enough for a family of four. Therefore, he and his wife did not dare to dream of building a spacious house to accommodate.
“I have also studied many loan packages but the interest rates were too high that I did not dare to borrow. After that, I was introduced by the commune Farmers' Association to the VBSP loan package. I could borrow a lot but the interest rate was low, so I dared to borrow. I think the loan package is very reasonable and humane, creating an opportunity for my family to have the conditions to build a spacious house," Tien said.
Like Tien's family, Le Thi Ngoc Hoa's family of Dinh Hoa ward in Thu Dau Mot city, who is currently working as a worker in Bau Bang district, also has access to loans to support housing purchase in the commune. Hoa said that with a low income, buying land to build a house for her and her husband was just unrealistic. After knowing and consulting the social housing loan packages, she decided to borrow to buy a house in Dinh Hoa Social Housing Area, which is suitable for the family's finance.
“This social housing is worth VND 308 million and is supported by an 80% loan with low interest rate, so it is very suitable for my family. We are working farther away, but we got used to it. Only if you settle down can you sustain your career," Hoa confided.
The social housing loan program under the government's Decree No. 100/2015/ND-CP on social housing development and management has helped many low-income families in Bau Bang district have the opportunity to access financial resources at preferential rates to build stable housing, contributing to ensuring social security in the locality. The lending interest rate of VBSP applied to loans to purchase, rent social housing, build new or renovate and repair houses according to Decree 100 of the government is 4.8% a year. Customers can borrow up to 80% of the contract value for social housing purchase and 70% of the estimated value for new construction or house renovation within a period of 15-25 years.
