Bau Bang launches tree planting festival to mark 125th anniversary of Uncle Ho’s birthday

*Competition on “We telling stories about Uncle Ho” held

On May 18, the People’s Committee of Bau Bang district launched a tree planting festival on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of late President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday (May 19, 1890-May 19, 2015).

Following Uncle Ho’s teaching “For the sake of 10 years, we should plant trees; for the sake of 100 years, we should cultivate people”, the tree planting festival aims to raise public awareness of environmental protection and forest development. The district’s People’s Committee wanted that this would be one of daily activities done by all sectors, levels and people from all strata. With such significance, leaders of the district called for all communes, agencies, schools, armed forces and people to actively respond to the festival. It is known that the week-long festival begins from May 18 to 26.

After the launching ceremony, leaders of the district planted trees along the 5A resident area, D13 street, Bau Bang industrial-urban park.

*Also on this occasion, Bau Bang district’s Young Pioneer Organization in collaboration with the district’s Division of Education and Training held a competition on “We telling stories about Uncle Ho” for district-based primary and secondary schools.

The competition absorbed 17 candidates with 2 main contents, including telling stories about Uncle Ho and art performances.
