Beauty of Binh Duong captured through lacquer paintings

When landmarks of Binh Duong such as the broken bridge of Song Be, Phu Cuong Office (now the Traditional House of Thu Dau Mot city), Thu Market, Lo Lu Wharf, Hoi Khanh Pagoda… are skillfully portrayed in lacquer paintings, they are transformed into unique works of art. Through these masterpieces, the images of the land and people of Binh Duong have the opportunity to reach many people and go to many places...

“I’ve traveled to Phu Giao many times and each time I stop to admire this bridge because I find it beautiful. Gradually, I had the idea to recreate it in a painting. To me, Binh Duong’s landscape is already picturesque and poetic. When an artist breathes life into it and incorporates its beauty into a painting that beauty is amplified many times”, said Nguyen Tan Cong, the artist behind the lacquer painting of the broken bridge of Song Be. He is also a teacher at Binh Duong Junior College of Fine Arts and Culture.

The painting of the Traditional House in Thu Dau Mot City is chosen by many people as a gift

For artists, as long as there is an "excuse" of inspiration, they rush into composing and producing works. This is how the distinctive lacquer paintings from the craft village of Tuong Binh Hiep come to life, reflecting the beauty of Binh Duong’s land and people.

With a tradition and history of more than 300 years, the lacquer craft village of Tuong Binh Hiep in Binh Duong has endured many ups and downs, further enriching its cultural identity. With state-of-the-art science and technology, craftsmanship inherited from ancestors combined with modernity has contributed to creating many lacquer products being rich in painting materials.

Many artisans have left a lasting impression on visitors with lacquer artworks depicting the scenic beauty of Binh Duong. Some lacquer paintings are even produced in bulk as gifts upon request as both givers and recipients wish to preserve the unique character of Binh Duong and its Tuong Binh Hiep lacquer craft village. Thus, lacquer painting continues its journey through time. These exquisite paintings, crafted with meticulous care and precision, encapsulate the essence of the craft village, embedding the distinct cultural values of the nation into each piece. Through lacquer paintings, the beauty of Binh Duong is preserved with timelessness...
