Early February 14, Becamex IDC, in collaboration with the World Bank, provincial Department of Planning and Investment, Department of Science and Technology and Industrial Parks Management Board, organized a workshop to launch the Feasibility Study Project for an Eco-Industrial Park (EIP) following the international framework (EIP 2.0) set by the World Bank Group (WBG), UNIDO and GIZ at provincial Convention and Exhibition Center. The workshop was attended by Bui Thanh Nhan, Member of provincial Party Standing Committee and Head of provincial Party Committee’s Mass Mobilization Commission; Bui Minh Thanh, Vice Chairman of provincial People’s Committee; Nguyen Van Hung, CEO of Becamex IDC and Nah Yoon Shin, a Private Sector Specialist of the World Bank’s Competitiveness and Innovation Global Practice.

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Thanh emphasized that provincial leaders have highly valued and fully supported this feasibility study project. He expressed confidence that with technical assistance from the World Bank and relevant organizations and entities, the project will pave the way for Binh Duong to become a pioneering locality in Vietnam in developing EIPs that meet international standards, positioning Binh Duong as a regional leader in this field.
This study builds upon the success of the pre-feasibility phase and continues receiving support from the World Bank, aiming at implementing an internationally standardized EIP model in key industrial zones in the Bau Bang region, including Bau Bang Industrial Park, Expanded Bau Bang Industrial Park and Cay Truong Industrial Park. This model enables businesses to develop through industrial symbiosis, optimize resources, reduce environmental impacts and enhance economic values.
At the workshop, experts discussed various topics, including Becamex IDC’s strategy for EIP development to support investors, lessons learned from the EIP model in Ulsan and the ongoing green and smart industrial park programs in South Korea as well as advanced EIP technologies worldwide.
