On the morning of May 11 in Hanoi, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired the fourth meeting of the Central Steering Committee dedicated to the nationwide elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses. The meeting was conducted in a hybrid format, allowing participation from provinces and cities both in-person and online. At Binh Duong endpoint, there were the participation of Mr. Bui Minh Tri, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and representatives of departments and branches in the province.
According to data reported by localities on the updated software, as of May 7, 2025, the whole country has supported the elimination of nearly 209,000 temporary and dilapidated houses. Thus, from the third meeting until now, there has been an increase of nearly 87,000 units; an average increase of 26 units/locality/day. Up to now, the whole country has started and completed about 77% of temporary and dilapidated houses that need to be removed for all three groups of subjects.
Namely, housing support for people with revolutionary contributions is 25,597 units, reaching about 50.79%; housing support under two national target programs (sustainable poverty reduction and ethnic minorities) is 59,293 units, reaching about 68.7%; housing support under the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses is 124,097 units, reaching about 80%. From now until October 31, 2025, the whole country needs to start construction of over 61,800 apartments...
As of May 7, 2025, 15 localities have completed the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses. In May, 6 more localities will complete the program; in June, 16 localities are expected to complete the program; the remaining 26 localities strive to complete the program from July to October.
As of May 9, 2025, Binh Duong province has commenced the construction and repair of 335 out of 470 planned houses, which accounts for 71% of the project. The total expenditure for this initiative exceeds 20.6 billion VND. Binh Duong aims to complete the project by June 30, 2025. Regarding mobilization funding, as of May 5, 2025, the provincial level has mobilized 30 billion 847 million VND. Regarding support for Bac Lieu and Nghe An provinces, Binh Duong has so far completed transferring 34 billion VND to support Bac Lieu province and 44.735 billion VND/56 billion VND to support Nghe An province.
During the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh praised ministries, branches, and localities for their proactive implementation of this work. However, the task ahead until October 31, 2025, remains significant. Therefore, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested all levels, sectors and localities to make greater efforts, greater determination, and take more drastic, effective and focused actions to successfully implement the program's goals.
