After the South liberation and nation unification the collective economic model faced various challenges and difficulties during its development. Ben Cat Transportation Collective in Binh Duong Province was of no exception. In 37 years of establishment and development, Ben Cat Transportation Collective was determined to overcome difficulties and promote effective transportation services.
The first challenging days
Established in 1978, Ben Cat Transportation Collective was a small establishment of 32 members and 32 transportation vehicles. By now the collective has 120 members and 120 transportation vehicles with charter capital of over VND 28 billion and tens of billion VND revenue annually.
Through the years, the collective has been honored by Ministry of Transportation as excellent collective economic unit gaining highest achievements in developing collective economic model.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Tai, Director of Ben Cat Transportation Collective and the person in charge of nearly 4 years of management, recalled: “The initial years after liberation, agricultural and industrial collectives had been facing risks of mass dissolution due to ineffective operations without promotion of the collective roles as the trading flow dispirited the members. As a result, the then establishment was of harshest time ever as the members’ trust was eliminated. Despite the difficulties, we started the first transportation services in the province.”
Mr. Pham Van Giac, a person of attachment to Ben Cat Transportation Collective from the very beginning, said: “In the first stage, transportation means were lacking in the face of high demands for transportation during the reestablishment and construction of the nation after war. It was normal then for drivers and passengers to push the vehicles forward; however, the collective members were so happy to be in service.”
Firm emergence
As a key in-charge person, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tai, in person, met local people to call upon them the unity and awareness of economic management in 1978-1986 period. Thus, the collective operation was stabilized.
According to Tai, a collective needs agreements of members. Therefore, it is requisite to create trust among them. Upholding the logic, Ben Cat Transportation Collective creates trust among its members.
In 1996, Ben Cat Transportation Collective set up member supporting fund to help those members in financial shortage. Many members put it that the current development was thanks to timely support of those members in difficult circumstances. The collective offers good conditions for its members to attach to the collective for development.
Aside from the care for live hood of its members, Ben Cat Transportation Collective practices the principle of vehicle ownership as membership and job arrangement amongst its members. Thus, the members’ benefits are attached to general work of the collective.
As a collective established in harsh time, Ben Cat Transportation Collective is one of the establishments of the best fulfillment in provincial association of collectives. Despite fierce competition of other economic models in the market, by emergence efforts, the collective economic components will be well-off portions of the nation construction and development cause.
