Better signs of labor market at the end of the year

The labor market in Binh Duong is currently experiencing good changes as businesses recruit more workers in the third quarter of 2023. Many businesses are recruiting thousands of workers, attracting many job seekers from Western provinces, Binh Phuoc and Central Highlands to return to Binh Duong in the last months of the year. Departments and branches in the province are also strengthening connections, helping workers find jobs easier and faster.

Workers from Binh Phuoc and the Western provinces flock to Binh Duong to find jobs at companies in Dai Dang, Song Than Industrial Parks, and Thu Dau Mot City in the last months of the year.

Good sign for people looking for jobs

According to Provincial Employment Service Center, the province's labor market in the third quarter of 2023 has improved compared to the first 6 months as some businesses have new orders and need to recruit more workers. Enterprises operating in some fields, like: garment, shoes, handbags - backpacks, wood, plastic... have high recruitment demands with the level of 30-1,000 both skilled and unskilled workers for training.

Some businesses need to recruit a large number of workers from now until the end of the year, such as: Leading Star Co., Ltd. produces garments for export and recruits 1,000 workers; Vision Co., Ltd. produces golf clubs and recruits 1,000 workers; Esprinta Co., Ltd. produces garments and recruits 400 workers; Accasete Co., Ltd. recruits 500 women workers, Shyang Hung Cheng Co., Ltd. produces sports shoes, recruits 150 workers; Prominent Garment Co., Ltd. recruits 100 workers; Hoa Son Garment Trading and Services Co., Ltd. recruits 350 skilled workers...

According to statistics, the recruitment demand of businesses in the third quarter of 2023 is 7,412 workers. Of which, the demand for workers with professional and technical qualifications is 1,937 workers; the demand for unskilled labor is 5,475 workers. Enterprises, which want to recruit young workers from 18-35 years old, make up the majority. Some enterprises recruit unskilled workers under 45 years old, however this number is very small and requires worker’s good health.  In addition, in requirements for office and technical positions, in addition to experience and age, foreign languages, especially Chinese, English or knowing both Chinese and English, are also important.

Meanwhile, the demand for jobs is 17,765 workers, the rate meeting market requirements (employment rate) is about 50% of the total supply. According to analysis from Provincial Employment Service Center, there is an excess supply of about 10,000 workers, which should completely meet the recruitment needs of businesses in the last months of the year to produce Tet goods as well as exports in the first quarter of 2024. The current recruitment demands for large numbers of workers has opened up job opportunities for unskilled workers without vocational training, especially workers under 45 years old. This has attracted many workers from the Western provinces, Binh Phuoc, and Central Highlands to return to Binh Duong to look for work, after a period of unemployment and waiting for work because businesses lacked orders in the previous months.

Nguyen Ba Lam, from Tra Vinh province, who has been accepted to work at Vision Company Limited (VSIP Industrial Park, Thuan An City), said: “If in the past, when employees sent job applications, many businesses required a high school diploma, ages 18-35, skilled workers, now it is very easy to look for a job, qualifications and experience are not quite important.  Worker who need a job just need to go to recruiting businesses and submit their application and they will be accepted immediately. Previously, I worked at a wooden furniture manufacturing company. When I switched to a golf club company, I was retrained from the beginning; salaries and allowances are also better than before."

Job search links for workers

According to reports of some associations (wood, textile, electromechanical), many businesses have signed new orders, production and export contracts until the fourth quarter of 2023. From August and September 2023, businesses will begin to resume operations, recruit more production workers to deliver goods to customers from the first quarter of 2024... Therefore, it is forecast that from now until the end of this year, the province will need about 10,000-12,000 workers. Of which, skilled workers and unskilled workers will account for about 70%, the remainder are workers with professional qualifications.

The need to recruit labor in the last months of the year is mainly to supplement depleted resources and a few to serve production expansion. In addition, some small and medium-sized enterprises that always need to recruit less than 50 employees will not widely inform but only provide recruitment information at the enterprise. Additionally, at the end of the year, the recruitment need for seasonal workers increased but the number was not much compared to the previous year, due to the difficult economic situation, the consumer demands for holiday shopping, eating, drinking and entertainment are not high.

Nguyen Thanh Phuong, Deputy Director of Provincial Employment Service Center, said that in the last months of 2023, although business activities show better signs, they face many difficulties and challenges, due to the continuing impact of the global economic situation causing the prices of input materials and gasoline to increase sharply. Therefore, the level of recovery of businesses is slower than in previous years. From now until the end of the year, the center will continue to enhance supply-demand connection, connecting businesses that are in need of recruitment, businesses that have surplus labor, helping workers have the opportunity to return to the labor market. The center will continue to increase the organization of face-to-face and online job transaction sessions and daily online interviews to support job seekers. The center will also provide timely consultancy for businesses when they have recruitment needs; continue to expand relationships with businesses and industry associations to find jobs for workers...
