Binh Duong organized a number of activities in response to the 2003 Earth Hour Campaign at 20:30 pm of March 23.
With the slogan of “Switching off lights in 60 minutes and 365 days of saving energy. You and I, let’s take action”, this year’s Hour Campaign in Binh Duong took place with many significant activities in propaganda and mobilization of the local organizations, enterprises and people from all walks of life to respond to the event.

Enterprises and business households around TDM city’s six-way crossroads also switched off their lights. Before 60 minutes of “Earth Hour”, hundreds of Youth Union members were present at the center of TDM city to make dissemination of information about the significance of the campaign in combating climate change and protecting the environment. Many other meaningful activities, including a variety show on environmental protection, an exchange with singer Cao My Kim, the Ambassador of the Environment…, were also held during the program.
Nguyen Anh Khanh Linh, a first-year student of Thu Dau Mot University said: “This is the first time I have taken part in the “Earth Hour” campaign, so I feel very joyful. Switching off lights during “Earth Hour” is a practical action, contributing to protecting our living environment…”.
Meanwhile, Tran Thi Ngoc, also from Thu Dau Mot University, said that she actively took part in the program of “Switching off your motorbike’ engine within 25 seconds when seeing red light” launched by provincial Youth Union. This was actually a significant deed to propagandize energy saving and contributed to limiting the green house effect.
Many other students also expressed their delight when taking part in the campaign, especially propagandized to raise public awareness of combating climate change through such practical activities as turning off lights, unnecessary power equipment during 60 minutes of “Earth Hour”
Singer Cao My Kim, the Ambassador of the Environment said: “I hope young people, especially Youth Union members in Binh Duong will become “environmental ambassadors”, contributing to propagandizing activities against the global climate change.
Prior to that, provincial Youth Union also organized a series of significant activities in response to the 2013 Earth Hour Campaign. Pham Hong Thang, Vice-Secretary of provincial Youth Union said that provincial Youth Union’s programs in response to the 2013 Earth Hour campaign aimed to raise the awareness, responsibility of Youth Union members and people from all walks of life about activities to protect the environment, save energy and combat climate change. Particularly, provincial Youth Union made efforts to mobilize enterprises and households to turn off lights from 20:30pm to 21:30pm of March 23 to celebrate 2013 Earth Hour while taking actions in 365 days for climate change.
