More than 600 Youth Union members, pupils and students together with leaders of provincial Department of Industry and Trade, Youth Union, Binh Duong Electricity Company, TDM city gathered at the six-way crossroads of the city to take part in activities responding to the Earth Hour 2016 on the evening of Mar.19.
With the message of “Small actions-Big significance”, the Earth Hour 2016 aimed to call on locals to switch off non-essential electrical appliances in 60 minutes from 8:30pm to 9:30pm on Mar.19 while taking actions in 356 days for climate change. According to the organizers, the goal of this year’s Earth Hour campaign 2016 is to save 50,000 kWh of power.
All non-essential lighting systems around the center of TDM city were turned off in response to the Earth Hour at 8:30pm. The organizers also floated colored lanterns and burn candles during 60 minutes. It is known that the whole province saved 130,000 kWh of power after three times of responding to the drive.
