Binh Duong further supports storm-hit victims in central region

Ppeople in the central regions have been hit by recent floods and storms. Twenty six people were reported dead, property losses were estimated at thousands of billions of dong and thousands of people became homeless. A delegation from Binh Duong province’s Red Cross Society and Buddhist Sangha has just visited and given gifts as relief aid to people in the central province.

Particularly, the delegation visited and presented gifts to people in Quang Binh province where was hit by the 10th and 11th storms with total damages of more than VND8,5trillion. The delegation paid a direct visit to Quang Trach where there  were 12 dead people, 156 injured ones, 12,756 houses damaged …with total losses of VND3.4trillion.

Quang Trach district’s two communes of Quang Trung and Quang Tan were seriously hit by recent storms. At the visiting places, the delegation presented 400 gifts worth VND600,000 each, including  instant noodle, new clothes and cash, to people in Quang Tan commune. The total cost of the gift visit was estimated at VND480mln.

Many locals were very emotional and expressed their thanks for the attention and help of all people across the country. Tran Thi Lien said although being small gifts, but they showed the heart of Binh Duong’s people to those in the region with the meaning of “One piece of food while hungry equals a big basket of food while full”…

It is known that people in the central region now make efforts to overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives. They also intensively need relief aid from donors, agencies, mass organizations together with social organizations nationwide to be able to soon recover after powerful storms. According to Mrs.Lien, the delegation will further visit and present 800 gifts to storm-hit people in the central province of Quang Tri in the next few days.
