On the morning of May 17, at Cay Truong Industrial Park in Bau Bang District, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Binh Duong Province held the inauguration ceremony for the Tree Planting Festival of "Eternally Grateful to Uncle Ho" in honor of the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1980 - May 19, 2025).
The launching ceremony and tree planting event were attended by former Politburo member and former President Nguyen Minh Triet, as well as Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh. Representing the provincial leadership were Mr. Nguyen Van Loi, a member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Mr. Nguyen Loc Ha, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Vo Van Minh, Deputy Secretary of Binh Duong provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Nguyen Van Loc, Standing Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; along with provincial leaders from various periods and leaders of provincial and local departments and branches.
During the launch ceremony, Mr. Vo Van Minh, representing the provincial leaders, remarked that over the past 65 years, the "Tet of tree planting" initiative introduced by President Ho Chi Minh has evolved into a widespread, dynamic, and sustainable movement that spans both urban and rural areas. The "Tet tree planting" tradition has fostered a distinctive characteristic, becoming a cherished custom and a beautiful tradition of our people.
In contemporary society, tree planting is gaining significance in light of environmental pollution and global climate change, which pose substantial challenges to socio-economic development and the quality of life for individuals. The cultivation of trees is vital for nature conservation, the protection of biodiversity, and the enhancement of environmental conditions. It aids in mitigating the effects of natural disasters, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and responding more effectively to climate change, while simultaneously fostering sustainable development.
Acknowledging its significance, the Provincial People's Committee has sanctioned and initiated the "Urban Green Tree Project in Binh Duong Province," aimed at expanding green spaces, enhancing the living environment for residents, and simultaneously supporting the execution of the "Project to Plant 1 Billion Trees during the 2021-2025 period" introduced by the Prime Minister.
Over the course of five years (2021-2025), tree planting initiatives have seen active participation from agencies, businesses, and the community throughout the province, resulting in the planting of approximately 2,597,000 trees of various species, covering an area of about 5,194 hectares.
Most industrial parks and urban areas allocate a portion of green space, and numerous parks have been established in residential neighborhoods, enhancing the living environment for residents.
