Binh Duong needs to pay attention to 8 issues in Covid-19 prevention and control

On the afternoon of July 13, Nguyen Van Loi, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee had a working session with the Ministry of Health’s inspection delegation on Covid-19 prevention and control, led by Professor - Dr. Van Thuan, Deputy Minister of Health. The event was attended by Vo Van Minh, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People's Committee, Vice-Chairpersons of provincial People's Committee and members of provincial Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control.

At the meeting, members of the delegation from the Ministry of Health said that over the past time, Binh Duong has drastically implemented measures against the pandemic, but the number of Covid-19 cases is still increasing rapidly. This was because the province was unable to control  over the source of infection from Ho Chi Minh city. In addition, recently detected positive cases carry virus strains from India. This type of virus has a fast spreading speed with short transmission cycle (about 2-3 days).

Nguyen Van Loi, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee speaks at the meeting with the Ministry of Health’s investigation delegation on Covid-19 prevention and control

Contributing to a number of issues in the province's Covid-19 prevention and control, professor - Dr. Tran Van Thuan highlighted 8 issues that Binh Duong should pay attention to, including  preventing and controlling pandemic penetration, implementing social distancing under the Directive 16, even over the Directive 16; focusing on stamping out newly recorded outbreaks; realizing an appropriate testing strategy; fighting the pandemic in industrial parks; carrying out the “four on-site” content; collecting and treating Covid-19 patients; stepping up vaccination and strengthening the application of information technology in pandemic prevention and control.

In-depth analysis of the Directive 16, Professor - Dr. Tran Van Thuan stated that through reports by members of provincial Support Task Force, the province’s implementation of social distancing has not been serious yet. The province needs to suspend non-essential services, wholesale markets, spontaneous markets, street vendors; establish and improve the efficiency of quarantine checkpoints between bordering areas; strengthen inspection and handle cases not complying with distancing regulations to prevent the source of infection from outside.

Professor - Dr. Tran Van Thuan emphasized, in order to well implement social distancing, the province also needs to have a plan to allocate essential goods to people and support people during the current difficult period so that no one is left behind. The experience in Covid-19 prevention and control in localities, as well as the whole country through the previous waves of the pandemic and even this wave showed that along with the health sector, the fight against the pandemic must have the participation of all local forces. Heads of localities, departments, agencies, units and organizations have to take responsibility for the Covid-19 outbreak. The province must also require all-level authorities, sectors and agencies not to be negligent in the fight against the pandemic. In the blockade areas, the province must strictly ban all business activities for non-essential goods.

The Ministry of Health will support materials and equipment for Binh Duong’s Covid-19 prevention and control with appropriate amount. In addition, the Ministry of Health can support 50,000 quick test kits for Binh Duong to fight the pandemic. Especially, the Ministry of Health will provide maximum support for the province to complete 2 intensive care units in order to be ready to treat serious Covid-19 patients.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Loi acquired contributive ideas by the Ministry of Health’s delegation and asked for sectors and units in the province to recheck their tasks and continue adding requirements and  guidelines of the Ministry of Health in the fight against the pandemic. Right this morning (July 14), agencies, units and localities must take action immediately.
