Provincial Association of the Elderly now has a total of 64,838 members. Over the past time, the province always created favorable conditions for the association to work effectively.
Provincial Support Fund for the Elderly has so far mobilized more than VND1.5bln from organizations and individuals across the province. In the first half of 2014, provincial Associations of the Elderly at all levels visited and presented gifts to 1,215 elderly people; wished elderly people long life; well realized policies for those aged 80 and above…

Provincial Association of the Elderly has also teamed up with physicians at provincial/district-level hospitals to provide free medical check-up and medicine for 5,383 elderly people. Under the program of “Bright eyes for the elderly”, 180 elderly people across the province have so far enjoyed free eye surgery.
In addition, provincial Associations of the Elderly at all levels have braced up the local elderly people to take exercise. The birth of 214 “Taichi” clubs has contributed to helping more than 4,000 members look after their health. Provincial Associations of the Elderly at all levels have also attached special importance to organizing cultural activities for the local elderly people, contributing to taking care of their spiritual lives. Upholding the role of the elderly
The role of elderly people in family is very important. They are seen as the spiritual mainstay for development in family. The whole province now has a total of 5,468 families with elderly people directly getting involved in production and business. Nguyen Van Tron, 75, residing in Phu Giao district’s Tam Lap commune is an outstanding elderly person in production and business. According to him, elderly people always want to make contributions to the society, which is their joy and pride. They also consider this a positive rest.
The contributive ideas by elderly people to preserving cultural and historic relics, organizing traditional festivals are very necessary. They have also actively taken part in maintaining the local order and security. There are now 815 elderly people getting involved in the local security groups.
Besides, they have actively participated in grassroots conciliation groups, study promotion and environmental protection activities. 100% of the local families with elderly people have so far registered to take part in the campaign of “The entire people consolidate to build up cultural life in residential areas”…Noticeably, the local elderly people have actively promoted the National Target Program on New Rural Construction via many significant activities.
