On 27 Sep, Provincial People's Committee held a ceremony to announce Green Book of Binh Duong Province in 2018 to commend enterprises for performing well the requirements of environmental protection. This was the fourth time Binh Duong maintained this event to recognize and honor outstanding achievements of enterprises in contributing to the sustainable development of the province.

66 enterprises are honored
Following the success of the publication of Binh Duong Green Book 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2016, on 6 Mar 2018, Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 05/2018/QD-UBND stipulating criteria for assessment, ranking of enterprises, and developing Binh Duong Green Book with the addition of more stringent criteria for environmental protection in accordance with the industrialization and modernization conditions of the country.
Accordingly, Department of Natural Resources and Environment (DONRE) implemented the project "Developing Green Book of Binh Duong Province 2018". After surveying, examining, measuring and analyzing waste sources, the council classified and ranked enterprises. The result was, 66 enterprises met the requirements of environmental protection, of which 61 were rated as green, 5 were blue. At the same time, DONRE also collected opinions on the observance of laws and regulations on taxes, trade unions, labor and social insurance from 2016 to now, then identified 33 companies having excellent performance (with a total score of 100 points or more).
Enterprises named in the Green Book have shown their roles and responsibilities towards the community and contributed to preventing and improving quality of the environment. These enterprises in Binh Duong Green Book were good example of environmental protection in the province in recent years.
Enterprises were satisfied
One enterprise - who was listed in Binh Duong Green Book for many years – was FrieslandCampina Vietnam said that their factories in Binh Duong and Ha Nam were equipped with the most advanced technology, complete waste management, energy saving measures and clean energy sources to ensure environmental protection. With an investment of over $155 million, both Binh Duong got four international standard certifications from the UK's British Standard Institutions, the world's leading corporation in evaluating quality, health, safety and the environment management systems, like: ISO 9001:2015, FSSC 22000, ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007.
In addition, FrieslandCampina Vietnam's factories are appreciated in terms of their production and business strategies linked to environmental protection; having waste treatment systems (waste water, dust, gases and noise) meeting environmental standards, regularly processing and treating daily-life, industrial and hazardous waste. As a result, waste water from the factories is always within the allowed level and has reached the A standard - QCVN 24: 2009 (allows wastewater to be discharged into receiving sources that are water sources used for daily-life activities) of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
With the listing in the Green Book 2018, image, brand name and information of enterprises will be widely promoted. Moreover, Binh Duong Green Book will help enterprises better integrate into the world trade market. In order to participate in foreign markets, business cooperation with foreign partners, enterprises must overcome technical barriers, in which the most significant is the environmental protection requirements.
