A month of actions for children coincides with summer holiday; thus, Binh Duong Provincial Library is organizing various activities for children to bring up a meaningful summertime. Besides, the rotation of books and getting books to children are to promote reading habits and help the children access good books and meaningful knowledge for daily life.
Meaningful summertime
In the first days of summertime, arriving at Binh Duong Provincial Library to see the eye-catching decoration and display of 380 award-winning paintings drawn by children on paper and ceramic materials and some pictures of summertime services of the library in 2014. Besides, the pillars displaying books in colorful decoration attract attention of the children. The library management board has also designed reading sections of open space and enough light on comfortable foam floor decorated with grass and green trees.

Throughout the summertime, the Library organizes various activities including books for children and exhibition of 3,500 new books, 200 newspapers and magazine for children so that they can read, view, and feel for the favorite books on the bulletin. The children corner also includes recreation activities such as artistic drawing, sand drawing, relaxing picture arrangement, Vietnamese folklore films, and music.
To help children express their drawing talent, the library organizes children arts award for the sixth time in 2015 with two type of drawing on paper and ceramic materials and the contest of book dissemination.
To bring books to children
To gradually enforce and promote reading habit of younger generation while creating a place for children to enjoy the books, Binh Duong Provincial Library has transferred some of its books to schools, local post offices in communes, and children houses. The rotation of books has been implemented ever since 2003. In 2014, the provincial library has rotated nearly 30,000 books to service 122,000 turns of readers at localities. Of the stages, 19 sessions of summertime book have been implemented at elementary and junior high schools in remote areas of the province.
During this year’s summertime, the library coordinated with Binh Duong Provincial Children House, on Saturdays and Sundays, to offer 300 books, 40 newspapers per session to children readers.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hue, Director of Binh Duong Provincial Library, under the determination of bringing books to children and the theme of listening to children, affirmed that they are making all-out efforts to widen the reading movements in adolescence and children of the province. By reading, children can be educated to be more piety and aware of their surroundings to build up beautiful and clean locality. By summertime activities at the library, they can access newspapers and pictures to enrich their knowledge.
