A ceremony to launch the 14th National Week for Labor Safety and Hygiene – Fire and Explosion Prevention themed “Businesses and laborers being responsible for preventing workplace accidents” in Binh Duong province will be organized at the Lucky Square Convention Center in Binh Duong new city today, March 23.
The main purpose of the national week is to continue raising awareness and responsibility of employers, employees, as well as departments at all levels for labor safety and hygiene and fire prevention; expanding and boosting activities to improve working conditions in work places; promoting the responsibility and awareness for labor protection.

The national week also aims to protect employees’ health and State property as well as promote national socio-economic development. And it is also a great event in response to the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, April 28.
As of late 2011, the whole province had 15,216 enterprises with 764,029 laborers, up 46,179 compared to 2010. Most enterprises paid attention to healthcare for employees via setting up health departments; equipped personal labor protection equipment for employees.
They also organized training courses on labor safety and hygiene; provided periodic healthy examination for employees; improved working conditions and equipped firefighting equipment; made timely solutions to issues on fire-explosion safety…
For the national week getting better results, provincial Steering Board for the national week has set some specific tasks, including improving and diversifying activities on education and dissemination of information about healthcare for employees, occupation disease prevention as well as the role of labor protection in production-business to create remarkable changes on awareness of State agencies, enterprises, employers, employees in the field of labor safety-hygiene and fire-explosion prevention.
Huynh Van Nhi, vice-chairman of provincial People’s Committee has also required sectors and agencies at all levels to intensify inspection of labor safety-hygiene and fire-explosion prevention at enterprises, especially those having high risks of labor accident, occupational diseases, fire and explosion while giving strict punishment for violations…
