From May 15 to 18, Binh Duong Provincial Association of Students opens camping festival under the theme of “The pride of Vietnamese ocean and island territories” at Phu Quoc District of Kien Giang Province. The event was sponsored by Vietnamese Association of Students for 900 national elite youths in the event of showing patriotism and awareness in national defense.

They are the elite ones having great achievements in learning and activities of the Youth’s League and associations.The camping festival is an annual event to promote patriotism as well as education of the ocean and island territories of Vietnam amongst students.For this year, the program is meaningful and practical by educating, visiting and offering gifts to local children and families on Phu Quoc Island.Meantime, the camping festival offers educational games and contests regarding the Law on Ocean, UN Ocean Charter, and DOC.On the occasion, Provincial Association of Students awarded VND 20 million as extracted from the funding of “supporting the ocean and island territories” to support the construction of landmarks on Tho Chu Island.The association of students under Provincial Youth’s League offered 27 scholarship packages to poor students on the island at the cost of VND 500,000 each.Mr. Tong Xuan Giang, Deputy Chair of Provincial Association of Students said that the activities have been very meaningful for the students to express their patriotism. And, the trip should give them meaningful knowledge in the face of ongoing protest against Chinese government’s wrong-doing in the waters of Vietnam.
