From August 11 to 15, a delegation of Binh Duong province’s Fatherland Front Committee (FFC), led by Nguyen Huynh Dinh, Vice-Chairman of provincial FFC, has visited and provided relief for two food-hit northern provinces of Dien Bien and Quang Binh.
The delegation had a working session with Dien Bien province’s FFC on the afternoon of August 11. At the working session, the delegation heard a report about damages in Dien Bien caused by heavy rains and floods from July 23 to August 3. Tuan Giao, Muong Ang and Dien Bien city were the hardest-hit areas in Dien Bien province. Nearly 500 houses were damaged while nearly 1,000 hectares of rice and crops were submerged. The natural disaster also seriously destroyed many traffic and irrigation works in the northern province…Total economic losses were estimated at around VND291.54bln.
The delegation also donated VND500mln from Binh Duong province’s Natural Disaster Relief Fund to flood-hit people in Dien Bien province. Today, August 12, the delegation will directly visit and present gifts to families in some areas seriously affected by recent rains and floods in the northern province.
