Binh Duong tourism eyes positive development at the start of the year

On the early days of 2025, tourism activities in the province have been notably vibrant and prosperous, with an increase in visitor numbers compared to the same period last year. While these developments are encouraging, they also present numerous challenges that necessitate the tourism industry to excel in order to continue attracting and satisfying the needs of tourists in the future.

In the early days of the year, the influx of visitors and pilgrims at Thai Son Pagoda (Nui Cau, Dau Tieng district) was notably substantial

Positive news

In the early days of the new year 2025, particularly during the Lunar New Year holiday and the Full Moon Festival in January, the province experienced a notable surge in the number of visitors engaging in tourism activities, fostering momentum for the industry's growth throughout the year.

According to statistics from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism regarding the status and performance of tourism enterprises in the province, during the recent Lunar New Year (as of February 2), the total number of tourists served in the province reached approximately 142,000, reflecting a 3% increase compared to the same period last year. Of this total, domestic tourists accounted for around 136,000, while international tourists numbered approximately 6,000. The total revenue generated was about 65 billion VND, representing an increase of approximately 20% over the same period.

Although there are no statistics from the relevant authorities, it is evident that during the series of activities associated with the Mid-Autumn Festival in January, the number of visitors engaging in festival and tourism activities in the province reached hundreds of thousands, including numerous pilgrims from various provinces and cities both domestically and internationally.

In Dau Tieng District, renowned for its numerous appealing destinations, particularly the Nui Cau relic complex and Dau Tieng Lake, visitor numbers during the early days of the year were notably vibrant. The head of the district's Department of Culture and Information reported that from January 1 to February 18, the relics in the district welcomed over 118,710 visitors, including 57,600 from outside the province. Thai Son Pagoda (Nui Cau) alone drew 90,000 visitors and pilgrims.

Initiatives to advance

According to the assessment of the functional sector, in 2024, despite numerous challenges, the Binh Duong tourism industry has gradually progressed, achieving and surpassing the established targets through collaborative efforts. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, stated that the department has concentrated on guiding tourism management units, associations, and service businesses to implement promotional activities aimed at introducing the province's tourism products to visitors, thereby showcasing the province's potential and strengths to attract tourists. Recently, various activities have been organized that link tourism with sports and culture, including farm trips, sightseeing, and educational experiences related to historical and cultural sites, particularly festivals. These initiatives have significantly contributed to increasing revenue and visitor numbers, establishing a solid foundation for the continued development of Binh Duong tourism in 2025, as noted by Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong.

The onset of 2025 coincides with the extended Lunar New Year holiday, prompting tourist areas and destinations within the province—such as Phuong Nam Resort, Green Tourism Din Ky, An Lam Resort, Kawazo Phu Thinh, Coi Xay Gio (The Windmill) film studio, Tropical Garden (Tokyo Farm), Sol Retreat Farm, Vuon Xua tourist destination, and various golf courses—to prioritize preparations. These efforts include the decoration of miniature landscapes, the organization of engaging programs, and the implementation of plans to ensure security and order, food safety and hygiene, fire prevention and response, as well as environmental sanitation, all aimed at effectively meeting the entertainment and relaxation needs of visitors.

Despite a significant increase in tourist numbers during the early days of the year, the overall outlook for 2025 is anticipated to remain challenging, necessitating a collective effort from the entire tourism sector to meet the established objectives for the year. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong stated that at the outset of 2025, the Binh Duong tourism industry has reassessed the activities of 2024 and outlined its development strategy for 2025. This year, the focus will be on advancing the digital transformation of tourism, specifically through the promotion and introduction of digital tools to further enhance the province's tourism potential.

In addition to preserving and enhancing traditional tourism offerings, the leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism will collaborate with various units and tourist destinations to develop new sites and products aimed at attracting visitors. “At present, the department has formulated a preliminary plan and engaged with relevant sectors to establish more specific and transparent policies that will support tourism development enterprises, allowing them greater latitude to invest confidently and create robust infrastructure to facilitate the province's tourism growth,” stated Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong.
