The provincial process of economic transfer in the structure of industry, trade, service and agriculture has gained remarkable results. However how to solve shortcomings for stable development of local industry and trade sector is a goal in 2011 for the local sector.In 2010, the local results of industrial production and trade service gain high results with nearly VND106,000bil (a rise of 20.5%) in industrial production, US$8.3bil (up 23.5%) in export turnover, over VND44tril (up 31%) in trade-service value. Besides, the locality has had 6 more markets under operation, lifting total local markets up 83. However, the local sector of trade and industry remains shortcomings and difficulties.
Initially, the process of building projects relating to industry, trade, electricity; business support and promotion programs remain slow. Besides, launching and developing supportive industry remains difficulties, especially local staple trades such as footware, timber, owing to dependence on import.
As an item with a great density (19.37%) of the total local export turnover, timber industry depends on import material source. A director of a timber company in Binh Chuan commune, Thuan An district, said his company must depend on up to 80% of import material, causing difficulties for production. However, the biggest difficulty for trades with export turnover such as timber, handicraft, garment, textile and footware is trade protection, technical barrier with more serious standards.
Another obstacle that most of companies are facing is in capital source. according to businesses, though there are regulations of negotiated interest rates, businesses must suffer interest rates stipulated by banks.
In terms of trade and service sector, retail shops, supermarkets, trade centers have been invested strongly, offering more choices for customers and contributing to local economic growth and development. However, businesses' development in this area remains shortcomings such as poor quality of after sales and so on.
These show shortcomings of potentials of local trade and service field. the local industry and trade sector will in the coming time focus on develop industry sustainably in conformity with local economic structure. Accordingly, the locality will give priorities to lure staple sectors with high competition, fullfil plans on infrastructure facility development in line with the set requirements.
