Nguyen Thi Lan, deputy head of the Employment Division under provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs said that province-based businesses are facing a serious labor shortage.
Currently, province-based businesses need more than 40,000 laborers at their production demand, 80% of whom are unskilled ones. Garment, footwear, electronics-electricity…are still industries in need of the most laborers. The labor instability after Tet have affected the production-trading plans of businesses herein in the first months of 2010.
As surveyed, businesses at some industrial parks, namely VSIP, Song Than, Dong An…, at the moment have huge demands of laborers at their production expansion. For example, Apparel Far Eastern at VSIP I has been trying to recruit 1,500 employees, but has found only around 500. Kingmaker Co. has also announced to need 1,100 unskilled laborers, but it has failed to have the number of laborers.
There are many jobs, but few job seekers. Laborers, therefore, become fastidious. To lure more laborers, policies on salaries, bonuses, allowances…are written clearly on businesses’ recruitment notice boards. This makes severe competitiveness among businesses in labor recruitment.
Provincial Labor Union said that provincial functional agencies have taken measures to supply laborers for businesses, including opening job transaction floors, making laborers-supplying link with other localities…To keep and lure more laborers, according to provincial Labor Union Chairman Nguyen Van Nam, businesses need to well realize policies on salaries, bonuses, allowances, social insurance, health insurance...among other incentives for them…
