Binh Duong’s top ten cultural, sports and tourism events in 2014

In 2014, many significant cultural, sports and tourism events took place across Binh Duong. Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has just selected and announced the province’s top ten events in the fields of culture, sports and tourism during 2014, as follows:

 1.Binh Duong won 2 gold medals and 1 silver medal at the first National “Don ca tai tu” (southern folk opera) Festival 2014 and received the flag to host the second National “Don ca tai tu” Festival 2016

 

The first National “Don ca tai tu” (southern folk opera) Festival 2014 was organized in the Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu. Binh Duong participated in the event with 6 items. As a result, the province grasped 2 gold medals and 1 silver medal at the first National “Don ca tai tu” Festival 2014 and received the flag to host the second National “Don ca tai tu” Festival 2016.

 2.Binh Duong successfully organized a series of significant activities towards “national sea and islands” on the largest-ever scale

 

Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with the Southern Bureau of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized 3 variety shows themed “Beloved sea and islands” for workers. On November 29, 2014, provincial Youth Union also held a festival named “Binh Duong’s youth towards national sea and islands”. Accordingly, more 3,000 Youth Union members shaped a map of Vietnam.

 3.Binh Duong set two records: Vietnam’s tallest Christmas pine tree and most people in Santa Claus costume

 

Thanh Le General Trading Import-Export Corporation coordinated with King Star Joint Stock Company to organize a program in celebration of the New Year 2015 with the them of “Binh Duong’s dream” at Thanh Le Cultural Park. At the event, the Vietnam Record Organization awarded 2 recognitions of Vietnam’s tallest Christmas pine tree with 36-meter high and Vietnam’s most people in Santa Claus costume with more than 450 participants to Binh Duong.

 4.Binh Duong successfully held the final round of the 2014 “Gold Key” competition with first prize worth VND1bln

 

The second “Gold Key” competition 2014 was organized by Minh Long 1 Porcelain Co.Ltd. for cooks from all regions of the country. The competition absorbed 140 teams from provinces and cities nationwide. Its final round took place at Minh Sang Plaza in Thuan An town. The winner was awarded a cup together with prize worth VND1bln.

 5.Binh Duong was among top 3 units at the final round of the 2014 National Festival for Libraries’ Propagandists in the northern province of Dien Bien

 

To mark the 60th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu victory, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with the People’s Committee of Dien Bien province kicked off the final round of the 2014 National Festival for Libraries’ Propagandists themed “Resounding Dien Bien”. Libraries of Binh Duong, Ha Noi and Dien Bien were top 3 units at the event.

 6.Becamex Binh Duong football team won championship titles of V-League, Super Cup for the third time and was also the champion of the 2014 Toyota Mekong Club Championship

 

Becaome became the first team to win championship titles of V-League, Super Cup three times. Binh Duong also hosted the 2014 Toyota Mekong Club Championship for the first time. The tournament absorbed 4 best football teams from 4 countries in the Mekong River region, including Laos’Hoang Anh Attapeu, Cambodia’s Phnom Penh Crown, Myanmar’s Ayeyawady United and Vietnam’s Becamex Binh Duong.

 7.Four athletes from Binh Duong attended the 17th Asian Games (ASIAD)

 Four athletes from Binh Duong, including Nguyen Minh Phung of Karatedo, Nguyen Phan Ngoc Trang of cycling, Nguyen Thanh Pho of Bowling and Nguyen Thanh Duy of Karatedo, were summoned to Vietnamese sports team to attend the 17th ASIAD in South Korea. Nguyen Thanh Duy excellently won third prize at the international sports festival.

 8.Cyclist Nguyen Thuy Dung won 3 gold medals at the 7th National Sports Festival 2014. Chess player Ly Lai Huynh grasped the world’s bronze medals in team and individual rankings

 

Binh Duong won 8 gold medals at the 7th National Sports Festival 2014. Of these, 3 were contributed by cyclist Nguyen Thuy Dung. In 2014, chess player Ly Lai Huynh grasped a bronze medal in team ranking and a bronze medal in individual ranking at the 2014 World Team Chess Tournament in Germany’s Berlin. He and other players of Vietnamese chess team ranked second at the 2014 Asian Team Chess Tournament.

 9.Binh Duong successfully organized the 2014 National Cub for Taichi Performance Teams and the first provincial Open Taichi Performance Festival 2014

 

The 2014 National Cub for Taichi Performance Teams absorbed more than 410 athletes from 23 teams in 11 provinces and cities nationwide. Binh Duong hosted the event for the first time. The first provincial Open Taichi Performance Festival 2014 was also kicked off with the participation of 1,700 athletes in and out of the province.

 10. The first open Binh Duong Television cycling tournament-Becamex IDC Cup 2014

 

The tournament lured 300 cyclists from 19 cycling clubs nationwide. It was organized for amateur cyclists aged 16 and 55 with 6 stages.
