The Binh Duong Ceramic Festival 2010 opened on September 4 in Thu Dau Mot town in the southern province of Binh Duong. On this occasion, VietNamNet would like to introduce our readers to Tan Phuoc Khanh traditional ceramic village and the oldest ceramic kiln in Binh Duong province.
During the festival, the board organizes tours to some old ceramic villages in Binh Duong.
Tan Phuoc Khanh ceramic village is a dozen kilometers from Thu Dau Mot town. It is one of the three major ceramic centres of Binh Duong, with over 300 years of history.
During its golden anniversary in the year 2000, there were more than 100 ceramic kilns in this village. Tan Phuoc Khanh products were exported to many European countries. Many families got rich thanks to ceramics.
Tan Phuoc Khanh ceramics are very diversed, from dishes, vases, jars to pots, etc., with medium and small sizes and various colors. As products are of small and medium sizes, they are decorated with simple patterns like dragons, fish bone, chickens, flowers, etc.
Though ceramic enterprises in Tan Phuoc Khanh are family-run, the production scale is quite big. Many ceramic firms from Germany, Britain, Canada and China have representative offices there.
