After the ceremony launching the 2010 Youth Summer Volunteer Campaign, provincial Youth Union and its affiliates have begun getting involved in substantial activities for the sake of the community.
Particularly, provincial Steering Board of the 2010 Youth Summer Volunteer Campaign cooperated with provincial Health Department, provincial General Hospital’s Club for Young Physicians, Phuoc Hoa Rubber Joint Stock Co.’s Youth Union, Becamex IDC’s Youth Union to provide free medical check-ups, medicine and present gifts to more than 500 young workers and poor people with a total expense of more than VND50mln.
Provincial Agencies Bloc’s Youth Union visited and donated 100 gifts worth more than VND30mln to Vietnamese heroic mothers and families that had made contributions to the national revolution; upgraded 6 houses for disadvantaged people; dredged 11 ha of canal in Tuy Duc district in the Central Highlands province of Dac Nong; provided free medical check-ups and medicine for the poor with a total expense of nearly VND90mln; donated a gratitude house worth VND40mln to a policy beneficiary house in Dau Tieng district’s Tan Lap commune.
The Outstanding Youths’Club also held an exchange program in Phu Giao district’s An Linh, Phuoc Sang and An Binh communes. During the program, the club gave 40 gifts for poor pupils in An Linh and An Binh communes; granted 5 scholarships worth VND500,000 each for poor-but-excellent pupils; presented 20 gifts to policy beneficiary families in Phuoc Sang commune. The total expense of the program was estimated at more than VND10mln.
Meanwhile, students from province-based universities and colleges came to remote areas in and out of the province, including Dau Tieng district’s Minh Hoa commune, Ben Cat district’s Lai Hung, Phu An communes, Dac Nong, Dac Lac, Dong Thap, Ca Mau provinces…, to offer help to poor people during the 2010 youth volunteer summer campaign.
TDM town’s Youth Union also presented money, gifts and bicycles with a total expense of VND55mln for poor pupils. Provincial Agencies Bloc’s Youth Union donated 100 sets of textbooks to poor pupils in Phu Giao district while Thuan An district’s Youth Union spent VND4mln on upgrading charity classes. Phuoc Hoa Rubber Joint Stock Co.’s Youth Union organized a festive day themed “Children joining hands for the future” in 4 communes of the province with many substantial activities. The festive day with total expense of over VND20mln lured the participation of more than 2,700 children.
With the above good results, it is hoped that Binh Duong’s youths will reap successes in the 2010 Youth Summer Volunteer Campaign.
