Biodiversity for sustainable development is the theme of this year’s International Day for Biodiversity. The theme reflects the importance of the value and role of biodiversity for socio-economic development; calls for the community to take part in biodiversity conservation activities.

There is a diversification in terms of animals and plants at Dau Tieng district’s Cau mountain
Binh Duong is a locality in the Southeastern region with even and flat terrain and its urbanization speed has been on sharp development since 1997.
There is also a diversification in terms of plants and animals. According to statistics, there are 1,084 high-level plant species, mainly in Dau Tieng district’s Cau mountain, Phu Binh afforestation yard and the area next to Ma Da historical forest together with some plant species listed in the 2007 Vietnam Red Book…
Besides, there are 248 animal species, 30 and 33 of which are listed in the 2017 Vietnam Red Book and in the 2007 IUCN Red Book, respectively.
To conserve existing biodiversity and promote biodiversity in the future in association with socio-economic activities towards sustainable urban development, provincial People’s Committee has promulgated the Decision No.183/QD-UBND dated November 17, 2011 on the Action Plan of biodiversity till 2015 and orientations towards 2020. The main objectives of the plan are to perfect legal system on biodiversity protection; protect terrestrial biodiversity; strengthen conservation for aquatic ecosystems; conserve biodiversity in agricultural production; reasonably use and promote creature resources; improve the ability of biodiversity protection; research effective adaptable measures to climate change; effectively research and use capital sources for biodiversity conservation.
Many subjects and projects under the Action Plan of biodiversity, including those of researching a detail plan on management and exploitation of two important areas in biodiversity conservation in Binh Duong-Kien An relic site and Nui mountain; managing, protecting and using forest in a sustainable way based on the community; developing verdure systems for urban traffic…, have also been fulfilled, thereby contributing to ensuring the local biodiversity to be conserved and gain sustainable development.
It is known that the United Nations proclaimed May 22 The International Day for Biodiversity to increase understanding and awareness of biodiversity issues. Vietnam is among the world’s 193 countries joining in the Convention on Biodiversity. The diversification of terrain, land, scenery and climate has made Vietnam’s ecosystem get diversified. Therefore, Vietnam is one of countries receiving priority for the global biodiversity conservation.
