Boards of women’s affairs under province-based companies’ trade union locals, a fulcrum of female workers

The boards of women’s affairs under province-based companies’ trade union locals have actively organized useful playgrounds for female workers. They and trade union locals have also acted as a bridge between golden hearts and female workers with difficult circumstances.

Diversified activities

Sao Viet Joint Stock Company now has a total of more than 4,300 workers, around 95% of whom are female. The board of women’s affairs of the company’s trade union has organized a lot of cultural-sports activities for female workers, aiming to bringing them useful playgrounds.

The activities of the board have been constantly improved in both form and content, contributing to well protecting female workers’ legitimate rights and interests as well as building up advanced and harmonious labor relations at the company. Especially, the board organized a competition named “Talented laborers” on the Vietnamese Women’s Day 2015. This was a chance for female workers to play, thereby improving their spiritual life.

Whilst, the board of women’s affairs under Tribeco Binh Duong Co.Ltd.’s trade union has promoted an emulation movement “Good at production, good at homework” among female workers. The board has also regularly taken care of female workers via such significant activities as competitions on flower arrangement, cooking; talk shows on reproductive healthcare…

Along with recreational activities, the boards of women’s affairs under province-based companies’ trade union locals have sped up law dissemination among female workers; mobilized them to get involved in social activities and emulation movements launched by the trade union while paying attention to taking care of their health.

Offering help to needy female workers

The boards of women’s affairs under province-based companies’ trade union locals have not only organized recreational activities for female workers, but also joined hands in offering help to female workers with difficult circumstances. Therefore, the boards of women’s affairs have become a fulcrum of female workers in work and daily life.

The boards of women’s affairs under Thien Nam Investment and Development Joint Stock Company’s trade union local has given company directorate advice about building a tenement house with 600 rooms for workers, constructing a kindergarten for workers’ offspring; helping female workers get loans…So far, the support fund of the company’s trade union local has amounted to more than VND1.7bln. The company’s trade union has considered and provided loans for 500-850 workers annually, most of them are female. Company Deputy Director Tran Ngoc Linh said that over the past time, the company’s boards of women’s affairs and trade union local excelled at taking care of workers, thereby contributing to promoting the company’s development.

The boards of women’s affairs under Yazaki Co.Ltd.’s trade union local in Thuan An town has also just mobilized and donated VND110mln to Huynh Thi Ly, a worker suffering the third period of breast canner; gave VND120mln for Nguyen Thi Nhi with cancer of lymph nodes. Till now, the board has given financial support for tens of needy workers with fatal diseases.

According to provincial Labor Union Vice-Chairwoman Truong Thi Bich Hanh, the whole province is home to 1,670 trade union locals with boards of women’s affairs. In 2015, the boards of women’s affairs under province-based companies’ trade union locals actively took care of female workers and protected their legitimate rights and interests; make propaganda on the law, Vietnamese women’s virtues in the period of industrialization and modernization. They also maintained and set up support funds for needy female workers. More than VND46bln from the funds was used to support 9,913 needy cases. In addition, trade union locals established the “Fund for Children” with nearly VND55mln, offering help to 265 needy cases…
