After 18 years of establishment and development, the Trade Union local of Maico Co.Ltd. in An Phu ward’s quarter 4 in Thuan An town has become a reliable mainstay of workers, contributing to caring and protecting their legitimate rights and interests.
Maico Co.Ltd. is specialized in making fine art and handicraft products from pottery, bamboo, rattan… and hi-class embroidery ones. The company now has a total of nearly 800 workers. Bui Van Phung, President of the company’s Trade Union local said that the majority of the company’s workers are immigrants. Many have not had a stable life yet. Hence, the Trade Union local has always attached special importance to protecting their legitimate rights and interests.

Along with well carrying out policies for workers as stipulated, the Trade Union local has coordinated with the company’s directorate to provide them with more allowances; award scholarships to their offspring with good academic results; offer gifts to them on Tet…, thereby helping them keep their mind on work.
The Trade Union has also regularly visited workers with illness; organized parties in celebration of workers’ birthday…; especially set up a social support fund, opportunely offering help to workers with difficult circumstances. In 2017, the Trade Union has visited 57 ill trade unionists with a total expense of more than VND20million; awarded 79 scholarships worth nearly VND30million to workers’ offspring with good academic results; organized sports festivals on great holidays and gave Tet gifts for workers…
Nguyen Chi Nguyen, a worker of the company from the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap said that he and many other workers have felt very secure with preferential policies from the company as well as the attention of the Trade Union.
Noticeably, the company’s directorate and Trade Union have established a representative board of workers. They have regularly met and exchanged issues in order to help remove workers’ obstacles. Moreover, the company’s Trade Union has created favorable conditions for workers to take part in cultural-sports activities…, contributing to taking care of their spiritual life.
Mr.Phung said that all activities taking care of workers’ legitimate rights and interests have not expressed the responsibility of the company’s Trade Union for workers, but also contributed to decreasing difficulties, improving their income. In the coming time, the Trade Union will continue well upholding preferential policies for workers, improving the quality of their life so that they keep their mind on work and have a long attachment to the company…
