Respect to privileged families
On these days, ambience of welcoming Tet has become lively, owing to young generation’s gift visits to the privileged. Nguyen Thi Lon in Tan An commune, Thu Dau Mot town, over 90, said “Thank you all level leaders and local authority for the Tet gift visit”.
In the 2012 Tet holiday, the provincial leaders pay Tet gift visits to 35 privileged families across 9 districts and townships.
Gifts for the poor
Holding a gift package on hand, Huynh Thi Nhu Y in Tan An commune, Thu Dau Mot town bursted into tears for happiness. Her 5 member family lives on a modest income from her husband. Therefore, she can not afford to buy new clothes to her 3 children. Fortunately, her family just received VND1mil from local authorities for poor households.
Do Thi Lan in the same commune, said “This gift package is enough for my family to welcome the upcoming Tet”. Lan and her husband daily pluck vegetables to earn about VND50,000 per day. She said “Many recent years, thanks to the Party and local authority, our life declines difficulties. We enjoy health insurance and monthly subsidy and gifts on Tet holidays”.
Many delegations across province have held gift visits to the poor in a bid to bring a warm and happy Tet holiday for them. For example, the provincial Red Cross mobilized over 3,600 gifts to grant to the poor inside and outside the province. Meanwhile, the local Fatherland Front Committee in cooperation with the local Buddhism Society and BIDV’s Binh Duong branch… presented 400 gifts to the poor. In addition, Red Cross at all levels mobilized over 25,000 gifts to donate to the poor.
Tet for the unlucky children
Localities across the province have spent part of their budget to grant Tet gifts to unlucky kids. Nguyen Van Tien, a kidney child patient in Tan An commune, boasted “This money will help me have new clothes for Tet”.
