Building Binh Duong into a modern and smart city

Part 1: Developing traffic Infrastructure towards urbanization

To achieve sustainable development as a modern, civilized and smart city, Binh Duong is focusing on expanding its traffic infrastructure towards urbanization, thereby changing the local urban image and improving people’s quality of life.

Developing a synchronized and connected traffic system

With the principle that "traffic infrastructure leads the way for breakthroughs", Binh Duong has been investing in a comprehensive and seamless infrastructure network. To actualize this vision, the province has launched various programs and plans to ensure synchronization in association with provincial planning. Notably, on August 2, 2021, provincial Party Committee issued the Program No. 42-CTr/TU, focusing on the development of traffic infrastructure towards urbanization and the construction of a smart city for the 2021-2025 period, with an orientation to 2030 and a vision to 2045. To implement this program, provincial People's Committee has initiated key traffic projects.

Bach Dang bridge, spanning the Dong Nai River, has been put into operation, expected to create new momentum for Binh Duong’s further development in the coming period

Since 2021, Binh Duong has invested in and completed numerous key traffic projects that enhance regional connectivity. These projects have facilitated enteprises’goods transportation and people’s travelling, effectively serving people's lives, driving economic growth and promoting urban development. Notable examples include My Phuoc - Tan Van expressway, Thu Bien - Dat Cuoc road in the phase 1, the road and bridge connecting Binh Duong and Tay Ninh provinces, Bach Dang 2 bridge and North Tan Uyen – Phu Giao - Bau Bang arterial road. These projects, once operational, have proven to be highly effective in boosting regional connectivity and growth.

Tran Thi Trang, a resident of Lac An commune in North Tan Uyen district shared: “My family moved here over 10 years ago when this area had sparse housing and a low population, with no signs of urbanization. Since Thu Bien bridge was built, it has greatly facilitated travel and trade between local residents and those in Dong Nai province’s Vinh Cuu district. Conversely, people from Vinh Cuu district also come here for business, contributing to local economic growth and improving locals’ lives. Today, Lac An commune has undergone a remarkable transformation, with modern houses and a bustling marketplace emerging along ĐT746 route”.

The completion and operation of key traffic projects have raised great expectations for even more significant improvements in people's lives, contributing to Binh Duong’s comprehensive and synchronous growth, creating new momentum for the province to accelerate its progress on the path to development.

Focusing on completing key projects

As Binh Duong executes its strategy for scientific-technical development and innovation, the province is actively anticipating deep international integration. A key priority is to upgrade the transportation network, particularly by developing and completing critical provincial and national infrastructure projects passing through the area. This strategic focus serves as a key driver of competitiveness and lays a crucial foundation for sustainable urban growth. It also opens the door for international integration, positioning Binh Duong as a dynamic and comprehensive development hub in Southeast Asia.

The construction unit is accelerating the progress of building Binh Goi bridge, part of the belt road 3 project in Ho Chi Minh city

To concretize this vision, Binh Duong is expediting land clearance and compensation to fast-track key projects such as belt roads 3 and 4 of Ho Chi Minh city, the Ho Chi Minh city – Thu Dau Mot – Chon Thanh expressway with the segment passing through the province and the expansion of National Highway 13... In the coming time, Binh Duong will focus all efforts on developing a synchronized intra-provincial and regional traffic system, including road, waterway and railway networks. Priority will be given to traffic infrastructure development with the goal of transforming into a modern and smart city. Additionally, Binh Duong continues mobilizing all available resources to invest in a synchronous and modern transport infrastructure system, closely linked to industrial, service and urban development.

In 2025, Binh Duong will strengthen the mobilization and efficient use of resources to invest in a synchronous infrastructure system. The province aims at maximizing investment resources for the development of economic, social and technical infrastructure, creating momentum for the next phase of growth. Priority will be given to public investment to lead and stimulate the involvement of private sector. Binh Duong will drastically address obstacles in site clearance and resettlement, accelerate the progress of key traffic projects and ensure the quality of works… (to be continued).

Vo Van Minh, Vice Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People's Committee: Binh Duong aims at becoming a regional and interregional connectivity hub, continuing being a pioneering model in overcoming the middle-income trap and pursuing sustainable development towards a civilized, modern and smart city. Alongside the nation, Binh Duong is committed to realizing the vision and goal of transforming Vietnam into a high-income developed country in the near future.
