Many businesses in the Southern key economic zone are facing a serious labor shortage and have been looking for large number of laborers for their production and trading activities.
In 2010, businesses in Dong Nai need to recruit around 60,000-70,000 laborers. Among these businesses, 60% or 70% get involved in industries of footwear and garment. In Q1 2010 alone, businesses herein need around 15,000 laborers…
After Tet, businesses in HCM city need around 50,000 laborers, 40% of whom are highly skilled ones. For many reasons, migrant laborers have not come back to work after Tet. This has made many businesses, especially those in footwear and garment industries, face difficulties.
Not only Dong Nai, HCM city, but Long An also faces the same situation. According Phan Thanh Phi, head of provincial Industrial Parks Management Board, province-based businesses, especially those in garment industry at the moment need around 10,000 unskilled laborers, but they have only received 1,500 job applications.
Binh Duong is also under the lack of laborers. Kisoo Vina, the wholly-foreign-invested garment company in Thuan An district’s An Phu has announced to recruit 200 employees with average salary of VND2.4mln per capita per month and many other allowances. Similarly, many other companies, namely Thien Loc Co.Ltd, Kovitek Co., Truong Thanh Woodwork Co.,…now need hundreds of laborers.
Binh Duong One-Member Garment Co.Ltd’s Personnel Director Nguyen Hong An said that his company has paid more attention to the salary and housing policies for workers to keep them. But, many localities in the central and northern regions have developed industrial parks, and migrant workers will ponder when taking jobs away from home.
To redress the labor shortage, in addition to intensive polices, Binh Duong One-Member Garment Co.Ltd now plans to extend its activities in the regions where have laborers. Accordingly, it will build a factory in Bac Lieu province.
