Nguyen Van Khuong, vice-chairman of provincial Labor Union said that the lives of workers in the province last year became more stable compared to the previous year. Workers at province-based industrial parks enjoyed the average income of VND2.2mln per capita per month. In addition, provincial People’s Committee has just agreed to raise the Tet allowance for immigrant workers who cannot afford to return home for Tet to VND300,000 each while proposing to donate 3,000 Tet gifts to needy workers. Thus, provincial People’s Committee will spend around VND 900mln on taking care of the lives of workers on the 2011 Tet occasion, nearly double 2010’s figure. According to Mr.Khuong, provincial Trade Unions at all levels have actively mobilized businesses to provide cash and gifts to take care of workers’ lives during Tet this year.
