Binh Duong Vietnam - Korea Vocational College is a remarkable school in the cooperation program between the two Governments of Vietnam and Korea in vocational education and training. With the goal of training and developing high-quality technical human resources to meet the labour demand of industrial zones in the province and the region, in the school year 2022-2023, the school set up a target enrolment of 1,270 students at junior college and college levels.

Up to now, the school has recruited 1,028 students. Training occupations include industrial electricity, industrial electronics, business accounting, metal cutting...

Nguyen Tan Trung, Vice President of Vietnam - Korea College of Binh Duong, said that in addition to a modern theoretical and practical workshop system, the school also received an investment of 6 million USD (equivalent to about 130 billion VND) from the Korean Government's ODA to purchase equipment, advanced practice machines, and renew training programs and curricula.

The school’s curriculum was transferred by Korean partners, including majors:  automotive industry, metal cutting, welding technology, mechatronics, industrial electricity, industrial electronics, information technology (software application) ... Besides, the school has continuously upgraded training equipment and machinery in the direction of digitization and simulation.

In addition, the school is waiting for Provincial People's Committee’s approval for investment in material facilities and equipment to improve training quality and meet regional and international standards.

At present, vocational training institutions in the province have and offer a variety of training professions and forms, which is a great advantage for students who decide to choose vocational training (junior college or college) after high school graduation.  This school year, technical faculties still dominate and are favoured by many students. These are also highly competitive professions. Majors, such as automotive technology, industrial electricity, information technology, mechanical engineering..., often reach the enrolment targets soon.

Tran Hung Phong, Rector of Vietnam - Singapore Vocational College said that every year, the school builds an enrolment plan and determines enrolment targets. This year, the school expects to recruit 1,385 students, of which there are 1,000 junior college students and more than 300 college students.

Vietnam - Singapore Vocational College is a public school that passed the accreditation of vocational education institutions in 2020. In the new school year 2022-2023, the school enrols college students in the following majors: industrial electronics, industrial electricity, metal cutting (mechanical manufacturing), informatics, computer network administration, automotive technology...

So far, the school has recruited 1,327 students, reaching 95.8% target enrolment. In general, enrolment at the college this year is favourable.

To improve the quality of vocational training

According to Provincial Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the province currently has about 108 institutions of vocational training and education. Some schools have met and exceeded their enrolment target. Vocational schools also actively developed cooperation in vocational training according to demands of enterprises. The percentage of graduates who have a stable job is over 80%.

As a result, vocational training institutions make an important contribution to the provision of human resources for key projects and socio-economic development of the province.

“With the orientation of vocational training associated with the needs of employers, in addition to expanding cooperation, signing memorandums of understanding with enterprises to create favourable conditions for students to practice and train, Binh Duong Vietnam - Korea Vocational College also offers thematic extra-curricular trainings at the request of enterprises to diversify types of teaching”, said Nguyen Tan Trung.

Recently, Vietnam - Singapore Vocational College has cooperated with Esuhai Company and some businesses to hold job counselling days for students who are about to graduate. Tran Hung Phong said: “The school always cares and wishes students and their families have right thoughts and choices about their careers. Through career guidance sessions, I hope they will be able to make the right choices for themselves."

In the context of the fourth industrial revolution and the economic recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic, improving working skills and digital skills for workers is of great importance to the Party and State. Vo Dong Duy, Head of Vocational Training under Provincial Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, said that the enrolment of vocational training has had positive changes in recent years; training quality has been gradually improved, rate of graduates having job or creating their own job is high; the number of graduates every year is about more than 25,000, the employment rate reaches more than 80%.

In national vocational skills exams, Binh Duong had high prize winners. In addition to the evaluation of enterprises through seminars and training cooperation signing ceremonies between schools and enterprises, in terms of provincial competitive index (PCI), vocational training index of Binh Duong has been in the Top 10 of the whole country.

“By 2025, Binh Duong strives for the rate of trained workers to reach 85%. To achieve this goal, Binh Duong focuses on training and developing high-quality human resources, especially skilled workers, because this is a solid foundation to help realize the smart city model, making the province a place worth living and working”.
