Caring for and improving revolutionary contributors ‘lives

The implementation of policies for revolutionary contributors has been identified as one of the top priority tasks of provincial Party committees and authorities at all levels. Along with other localities, in recent years, the movement of "Paying debt of gratitude” has always been well executed by Thu Dau Mot city. As a result, the material and spiritual lives of the local revolutionary contributors have been improved.

Warmth and affection

In addition to regular care activities, on holidays and Tet, revolutionary contributors ‘families in Thu Dau Mot city received more joy from local leaders. Along with warm and affectionate visits, thousands of gifts were given to revolutionary contributors’families. On the 77th anniversary of the Day of Invalids and Martyrs this year, Thu Dau Mot city has organized a series of very thoughtful activities to care for revolutionary contributors’families, including the formation of 12 delegations to visit revolutionary contributors’families in all wards. Visiting and offering gifts to revolutionary contributors’ families have been carried out from July 9 and will conclude on July 24.

Vi Thi Tam Lai, Head of Thu Dau Mot city’s Division of Labor, Invalids and Social shared that on this year's anniversary of Invalids and Martyrs’Day, along with central and local State budget, the city's "Paying debt of gratitude" fund also early mobilized and supported household items such as TVs, altars, beds, fans, and sets of tables and chairs for 26 revolutionary contributors’families with nearly VND 120 million. The city also organized free medical examinations and treatment for 131 revolutionary contributors; promptly reviewed and awarded hundreds of exemplary revolutionary contributors’ families, model citizens...Additionally, depending on the local conditions, the city’s wards also had their own meticulous care activities.

Thanks to the simultaneous implementation of various activities to care for material and spiritual lives, most revolutionary contributors’ families in Thu Dau Mot city have felt happy during this year's July 27 anniversary. Especially for the family of Nguyen Thi Ut, a martyr's daughter (born in 1962 in Phu Tho ward), the joy was even more complete when the city coordinated with relevant units to build a new house for them. Mrs. Ut shared: "Having a new, solid, and spacious house to retire in is my dream. I don't know what else to say as the care regimes of the locality and city leaders are so full, not letting anyone suffer or lack anything".

Revolutionary contributors’ lives improved

Currently, Thu Dau Mot city is managing the files of 3,153 policy beneficiaries, revolutionary contributors. Among them, 1,384 individuals are receiving monthly preferential allowances under the Ordinance on Preferential Treatment, and 1,769 individuals are receiving allowances under the Resolution 08/2018/NQ-HĐND of provincial People's Council.

Thu Dau Mot city always pays attention to organizing practical activities to enhance the material and spiritual lives of revolutionary contributors

Vi Thi Tam Lai said that with the motto of "Good management of policy beneficiaries leads to good care work" in 2023, along with implementing the policy of making digital transformation in administrative reform, identity verification, and synchronizing clean data onto the national population database system, provincial Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs has advised the city’s People's Committee to develop two software programs to manage subjects, including revolutionary contributors. Along with that, the department has implemented a thorough review to accurately capture the list of revolutionary contributors such as their names, year of birth, specific addresses, and what kind of revolutionary contributors they are. For cases moving from other places, the division clearly recorded their previous addresses and policies for them to update on the software and easily review information if neccesary.

Along with implementing policies for revolutionary contributors from the State budget, the city regularly organizes support and care activities such as building and repairing houses, providing essential furniture, health care, mobilizing the "Paying debt of Gratitude" fund... As a result, the living standards of revolutionary contributors’ families have gradually improved. Currently, revolutionary contributors in the city has the average monthly income of VND 3.598million, higher than the average living standard of residents in their place of residence and higher than the provincial poverty line. Among them, there are 181 wealthy households (13%), 475 fairly well-off households (35%), 694 average-income households (51%), and 8 poor households (0.5% of those receiving monthly allowances).

As planned, in order to further improve the lives of revolutionary contributors, in the coming time, Thu Dau Mot city will further focus on opportunely and effectively resolving preferential policies and regimes of the Party and State for policy beneficiaries and revolutionary contributors. The city will also strengthen socialization efforts, mobilize the "Paying debt of gratitude” fund to support poor families; regularly review and grasp the living situation of revolutionary contributors, promptly visit, encourage and support for revolutionary contributors’essential needs such as building and repairing gratitude houses, providing essential furniture, health care… to take better care of the lives of revolutionary contributors.

On the occasion of Invalids and Martyrs’Day, Thu Dau Mot city allocated policy allowances to 7,488 revolutionary contributors with over VND 4.7 billion. Of these, the central State budget covered 3,215 subjects with over VND 985 million and provincial State budget covered 4,273 subjects with over VND 3.7 billion.

To further promote the care and support for the material and spiritual lives of revolutionary contributors, provincial People's Committee has issued a plan to organize activities commemorating the 77th anniversary of Invalids and Martyrs’Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2024). According to the plan, the province will intensify propaganda activities; mobilize the "Paying debt of gratitude” fund; upgrade martyrs' cemeteries, memorials, temples…; provide support to revolutionary contributors; visit and offer gifts to war invalids, martyrs, and exemplary revolutionary contributors; organize delegations to visit martyrs' cemeteries, ceremonies to burn candles paying tribute to heroes and martyrs; organize tours for outstanding revolutionary contributors…
