Caring for workers with extremely difficult circumstances

Each year, the for "Supporting Workers in Especially Difficult Circumstances in the Province" promptly assists and cares for hundreds of individuals. As a result, many workers far from home have been able to overcome their most challenging times and continue to stay committed to their jobs.

Trade Union officials at all levels are always proactive and timely in supporting workers having difficult circumstances.

Always accompany workers

Continuing to accompany workers, in October 2024 alone, thanks to this fund, trade unions at all levels in the province directly visited and supported 23 cases of union members and workers who suffered work-related accidents and serious illnesses, with a total amount of more than 220 million VND. One of the cases that received timely support was Ms. Tran Thi S., DI Company Limited (Vietnam), who is suffering from breast cancer.

She said: “The fund is very efficient and timely. In my case, I received immediate support within a short period of treatment. The 10 million VND I received when I was sick was a huge amount. I personally hope the fund continues to grow to provide more support to workers."

In recent months, whenever union members or workers are in trouble or sick and need help, provincial union officials immediately find out and provide support. In a lodging room in Quarter 3, An Phu Ward, Thuan An City, Ms. Nguyen Ngoc H. (worker of A. Company Ltd., VSIP 1), said that her thyroid cancer has improved a lot after a period of treatment. Now, she has returned to work at the company, can cook and do housework as before. She confided: “A few months ago, when I had to stay home for medical treatment and spent a lot of money, my family's situation was very difficult. My family really appreciates receiving 10 million VND from the Fund, it solves our problems. I was moved to tears by the sincerity of the trade union members who came to my lodging room to encourage me...

In particularly difficult and sudden cases such as work accidents and fires, the Provincial Labor Confederation proactively grasps the situation to provide timely support. For example, last August, when receiving the news that Ms. T.T.P. (born in Tra Vinh), a worker at Vinh Nghia Shoe Company, Ben Cat City, passed away due to cerebral infarction and heart failure, leaving behind a baby just over 1 week old. Her family's circumstances are very difficult, and Ms. P's husband does not have a stable job... The Provincial Labor Confederation coordinated with the Ben Cat City Labor Confederation, local authorities and the company's Board of Directors to visit and provide immediate support for this case. In addition to the 10 million VND support from the Provincial Labor Confederation, the local government supported 5 million VND; trade union at all levels also mobilized the company's Board of Directors and employees to join hands to support an additional 65 million VND for the family. The local government also urged the company's Board of Directors to create stable jobs for Ms. P's husband.

Promote the spirit of mutual love

According to the Provincial Labor Confederation, in the first 9 months of 2024, provincial Trade Union at all levels maintained visits and supported about 210 cases of union members and workers with serious illnesses, work-related accidents, and families of workers who died due to the Covid-19 epidemic, with a total amount of more than 2 billion VND using this Fund. Over 4 years of operation, the fund has supported more than 1,100 cases with support levels ranging from 4-10 million VND/case, totaling over 10 billion VND.

Ms. Nguyen Kim Loan, President of the Provincial Labor Confederation, said that in the past time, the Fund for "Supporting Workers in Especially Difficult Circumstances in the Province" has complied with the provisions of the law and regulations. The Fund has garnered special attention from various organizations, individuals, businesses, and workers who are committed to contributing and supporting union members and workers facing difficult circumstances. Their collective efforts aim to help these individuals overcome challenging times, enabling them to continue their work and remain connected to Binh Duong.

In order to have a financial source to maintain operations and help more workers having especially difficult circumstances in 2024 and the following years, the Provincial Labor Confederation sent an open letter to all levels of trade unions in the province, mobilizing union officials, union members, and workers to donate at least VND 12,000/person/year (equivalent to VND 1,000/person/month); to propagate and encourage businesses, organizations, and charitable individuals to contribute to the fund to better support workers. In the spirit of mutual love and support, the Management Board of the Fund for "Supporting Workers in Especially Difficult Circumstances in the Province" seeks financial contributions from agencies, organizations, and businesses. These funds are essential to ensure that they have the resources needed to care for our workers.
