Cases related to Covid-19 positive cases tracked down

After the holiday, the number of people coming to Binh Duong from other provinces to study, work and living is increasing, including some cases involving Covid-19 positive cases in Ha Nam, Yen Bai, and Da. Nang. The health sector is currently focusing on epidemiological investigation and monitoring of related cases.

Investigation and supervision promoted

On receiving the notice of the Steering Committee for Covid-19 prevention and control Covid-19 in Yen Bai province about the case of patient 2977, the provincial health sector urgently carried out the investigation in Phu My ward of Thu Dau Mot city where 4 were identified as F1 of patient 2977. Before that on May 1, these 4 attended a wedding with patient 2977 in Village 3B, Viet Cuong commune, Tran Yen district, Yen Bai province. Right on May 4, the health sector has conducted sampling for the 1st test against these 4 and 1 case of F2. According to statistics, the current total number of F1 cases of patient 2977 is 4, 1 F2 and 1 F3. These cases were tested negative for Covid-19.

Meanwhile, regarding the outbreak in Ha Nam, on May 4, the health sector also took the first sample for 1 case in Di An city from Sang village, Dao Ly commune, Ly Nhan district, Ha Nam province. For this case, there are symptoms of cough and sore throat. Concentrated quarantine was administered at the Medical Center of Di An city. Up to now, in relation to the cluster of infection cases in Ha Nam and Binh Duong, there have been 12 cases of Covid-19 risks. Of the 12, 9 were flight-sharing with patient 2910, 2 in the same quarantine area with patient 2899. All were isolated at home and sampled but only 1 was newly discovered. The test result was negative to 11, while 1 was pending for the test result.

Particularly, the case related to Covid-19 infection case with positive result on entering by tests in Cambodia, was HVL, a male, 25 years old, address of Village 4, Tien Cach commune, Tien Phuoc district, Quang Nam province. The health sector has not yet contacted this positive case in Cambodia. Information obtained from the case of close contact (F1) in concentrated quarantined showed that in the morning of April 26, HVL took a passenger car from Quang Nam to Binh Duong 2 quarter, An Binh ward, Di An city. In the afternoon of April 26, HVL went for Covid-19 tests in District 11, Ho Chi Minh City; and the result was negative. On April 27, the patient returned to Thoi Hoa ward, Ben Cat town to stay at Mrs. P.'s house; P. was then identified as (F1). On April 28, the patient was on flight K6839 to Cambodia for re-testing in Cambodia.

On May 4, the Center for Disease Control in Binh Duong province received information from Pasteur Institute of Ho Chi Minh city regarding the case with a positive test result in Cambodia. Through verification, there were 7 cases of close contact (F1) with HVL (Di An city: 1; Ben Cat town: 6). All of these cases were in concentrated quarantine and sampled; 1 F1 in Di An City had negative results, and the remaining 6 cases were in Ben Cat town waiting for the test results. Currently, the sector is still investigating and verifying F1 and F2 cases in Ben Cat town and strictly implementing measures to prevent and control Covid-19 epidemic according to regulations of the Ministry of Health.

Health monitoring and quarantine conducted

In order to continue to properly implement measures to prevent and control Covid-19 epidemic and to prevent the epidemic from spreading to the community, Dr. Nguyen Hong Chuong, Director of local Department of Health, said the Department has directed the Center for Disease Control of the province, health centers of districts, towns, cities and medical units in the province urgently to investigate, expedite traceability, and verify the residence of all related cases of recent Covid-19 infections and passengers traveling on infected flights announced by Ministry of Health to organize close supervision. Every day, the units must monitor the health status, organize medical isolation, and take samples for testing according to regulations.

 “People in close contact with patients, including relatives, friends, medical staff, and people on the same flight, on the same bus, staff at the hotel are quarantined and taken samples for testing according to regulations. People in contact with people who have close contact with patients are listed for isolation and health monitoring. Local authorities in communes, wards and townships are notified. The units must closely monitor the health of these cases. If there are signs of fever, cough, sneezing, runny nose, fatigue, chills or difficulty breathing, immediate quarantine at medical facilities and sampling for testing are conducted," said Dr. Chuong.

On May 5, Ministry of Health issued telegram 600/CD-BCD on the adjustment of the time of centralized quarantine and the time of management after the end of centralized quarantine and testing for prevention and control of Covid-19 pandemic. Accordingly, the time term of concentrated quarantine and the time of management after the end of concentrated quarantine and Covid-19 epidemic prevention and control testing are specifically increased from at least 14 date to at least 21 consecutive days in the quarantine ward from the date of entering the quarantine or last contact with someone infected with SARS-CoV-2. Sampling for SARS-CoV-2 should be at least 3 times on the first, 14th and 20th day during concentrated quarantine. The time spending at home and in-stay health monitoring is reduced from 14 days to 7 days after the end of the concentration quarantine and sampling to test on day 7 (from the end date of concentration quarantine).
