“So as to share difficulties of poor children in the province and to offer them happiness in Tet holiday, annually we mobilize people to donate confectionary, beverage, clothings and lucky money. Although donation is of small sums, they will be encouraged to make more efforts in study,” said Monk Thich Minh Thien, who is head of provincial Buddhism Committee, cum head of provincial club for volunteers.
For children in poverty, material shortage is common as their parents have to spend most of the time making ends meet. As a matter of fact, the charity gifts make them happy.
“When I take those gifts home, happiness is all around in my house. I am thankful for the gifts and lucky money,” said Nguyen Thi An Thu, a fourth grade school student from An Son, Thuan An.
And thus, donators and charity organizations have lit up daily dreams of children in poverty.
Ever since 2004, religious manager of Bo De (Bodhi) Dao Trang Pagoda has nourished orphans. By 2007, an orphan center was established under the pegoda’s name, taking care of 10 children. Up to date, about 40 children is living thanks to kind-hearted actions of the religious persons. “We are all moved to witness children being left behind by their parents for they are too young. Despite preliminary difficulties, we continue and request for help from neighbouring households,” said Monk Tu Thao, manager of Bo De Dao Trang pagoda.
And they are not forgotten in the Tet holiday when charity groups come to donate.
