With 16 charity houses funded by donors, piggy banks of cadres and members of the city Women Union helped many needy women overcome difficulties in their life.
Vy Thi Tam Lai, vice chairwoman of Thu Dau Mot city Women Union, said “In the past year, the city Women Union was assigned to build 7 charity houses for poor women. To complete the entrusted goal, the union mobilized cadres and members to donate one day’s salary to raise funds and urged assistance from donors. Therefore, the union granted 16 charity houses worth over VND600mil to underprivileged sisters by the end of 2012. Possibly speaking, the assistance brings a stabilized life for poor sisters”.
Visiting Nguyen Thi Diem Chau’s family in quarter 9, Phu Hoa ward on the Lunar New Year, every one witnesses their joy. Chau shared “I’m very grateful to the Women Union for the assistance. Our live has so far been stabilized”.
Pham Thi Huong Lan, chairwoman of Phu Hoa ward Women Union, said “In 2012, the ward granted 2 charity houses worth over VND80mil for local needy women. Aside from mobilizing donors, the ward Women Union’s cadres and members contributed over VND30mil from raising piggy banks”.
Movement of building charity houses in Phu My ward is also the typical model. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy, chairwoman of the ward Women Union, said “The union in 2012 mobilized to grant 2 charity houses to local poor sisters”.
Vy Thi Tam Lai added that over the past time, the movement of granting charity houses to poor women has been implemented well. However, there remain many sisters living in makeshift houses, so the union will spur implementation of the movement in a bid to help them enjoy stable accommodations.
