Since 2009, Dau Tieng district’s Red Cross Society has joined hands with Lien Tri pagoda in Dau Tieng township to set up a charity kitchen at Dau Tieng General Hospital with the hope of sharing difficulties with poor patients.
Every morning from Monday through Saturday during the past three years, volunteers came to the charity kitchen very early to prepare meals for poor patients being treated at Dau Tieng General Hospital. On average, there were more than 200 free meals provided daily for poor patients from the charity kitchen.
The charity kitchen is a significant model of the district, contributing to taking care of the local poor patients. Although having small value, free meals from the charity kitchen have expressed Vietnamese people’s humanity and good principle of “One piece of food while hungry equals to a big box of food while full”. With such humanitarian value, the charity kitchen will continue being maintained with the number of meals raised to serve poor patients at Ben Cat General Hospital
