Volunteer members of Thuan An charity kitchenAfter one-week operation, a charity kitchen for the poor in Thuan An, which is opened by An district’s General Hospital and Thien Hoa charity organization, has become a fulcrum for poor patients, contributing to sharing their material and spiritual difficulties.
The charity kitchen is expected to provide 450 charity meals daily for poor patients at Thuan An district’s General Hospital, from Monday to Saturday. The total cost of the charity kitchen in 2010 is estimated at around VND1.5bln, which will be mobilized by Thien Hoa charity organization.
Tran Thanh Liem, Head of the Thien Hoa charity organization said that the majority of members in the charity kitchen are volunteers. In addition to money contributed by donors, these volunteers have actively mobilized small traders at markets to provide foodstuff and green vegetable for the charity kitchen. They are always ready to serve and share difficulties with the poor.
Le Quang Vinh, Vice-Chairman of Thuan An district’s People’s Committee that the charity kitchen covers nearly 120sq.m with a total investment of nearly VND300mln from the district’s State budget. The birth of the charity kitchen aims to share efforts to help poor patients.
It is hoped that the district’s functional agencies will create favorable conditions for the kitchen to get better development and donors will further joint efforts with the executive board of the charity kitchen so that it is actually a place sharing difficulties with the poor.
