Choosing career path according to social needs

Entering March, 12th-grade students is urgently completing their curriculum and prepare for the national high school exam 2016. Before entering the life, each student choose their own career path. Students could develop their competences, build up a firm career path, and contribute to the national development, if they select a right job in accordance with their competence and social needs.

In the high school curriculum, students have a number of career guidance classes. Teachers help students in set the direction for their future. Depending on abilities, students select a university, college, or professional junior college. The most important thing is to selecting a career path in accordance with their fortes, family conditions, learning ability, and social needs.

At a recent enrollment-counseling day, Dr. Le Thi Linh Trang from HCMC Institute of Personnel said, there were now more than 800 professions with thousands of different expertise, and this would increase in the future, causing troubles to students as selecting job. An appropriate career is defined through 3 factors: labor content, and the value of selected job could meet student’s needs, aspirations, career trends; students have personalities, qualities and capabilities meeting the job’s requirements; the profession is being maintained and developed by the society.

Le Thanh Tung, Head of Professional - University Education Department of Education – Training, said the department annually coordinated with universities, colleges, or professional junior colleges to invite students, parents to career guidance, enrollment counseling days, in order for parents to understand and select appropriate school, learn more about schools in the province and giving trainings according to social needs.

Thanks to acquired information from multiple channels, students have wisely selected their career path to realize their dreams and fulfill their ambitions. Talking with 12th-grade students of Dau Tieng high school, we found that each student chose a different profession: civil power management, biotechnology, tourism administration... Student Tran Thi Cam Nhung even learned about learning conditions and requirements, like: appearance, height. It can be seen, students nowadays have mastered themselves as selecting their career path, instead of parents’ influences.

Currently, the province has 8 universities, 1 college, 9 professional junior colleges. These schools have given interdisciplinary trainings in line with the labor market needs, syllabuses are often updated to reach international standards. Thu Dau Mot University is enrolling for 22 university disciplines based on the national exam result, and will organize talent contests to enroll for special disciplines. Students of the university come from many other provinces, cities, but mainly in Binh Duong province.

Meanwhile, Vietnamese German University belongs to another segment of engineering – technological, business, key administration disciplines. High-quality training programs are based on standards of German universities. This university enrolls excellent high school students for their programs.

Entering 12th grade, students select their own direction, appropriate profession. However, they still have more than 4 months to make the final decision. According to the national high school exam regulations, the university hosting an exam cluster will issue one test result certification to a student for admission procedures. Students use code in the certificates for the enrolment. Students cannot change their enrolment, therefore should be careful in choosing a school for a higher admission opportunity, and should select a favorite profession according to social needs to have high career opportunities.
