After nearly a year of implementing “Civilized Saturday,” familiar images of individuals cleaning streets, volunteering to pick up trash, and caring for trees have become increasingly widespread. This has created a beautiful and vibrant atmosphere in the beloved region of Binh Duong.

Take action
"Civilized Saturday" has gradually become a cultural asset of the people in Binh Duong. What is most valuable is the community's self-awareness and proactive involvement in this initiative, reflecting each individual's sense of responsibility in building a civilized and modern urban area.
Early on weekend mornings, Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Lan from Ward 4 in Tuong Binh Hiep Ward, Thu Dau Mot City, gathers with a few residents to clean the alley in front of her house. Ms. Lan expressed, “In the past, we knew that maintaining public hygiene was important, but it wasn't carried out consistently. Since the launch of the 'Civilized Saturday' campaign, I’ve noticed that people in our area have become more conscious about environmental protection. Actions like cleaning and planting trees have received a strong response from the community and have spread more widely. As a result, our alleys and streets are now much cleaner and more beautiful.”
In Chanh Nghia Ward, Thu Dau Mot City, on a weekend in March, over 60 people of all ages gathered on Ngo Thi Lan Street for their "Civilized Saturday" initiative, engaging in familiar community tasks. The atmosphere on this street was livelier than usual, filled with laughter and conversation. Local officials and community members worked together to collect and manage waste while also caring for some trees lining the street. After completing their tasks, members of the environmental self-management team continued to motivate and encourage residents to actively participate in the campaign aimed at improving the quality of life in the community and promoting a civilized urban lifestyle in the ward.
Mr. Bui Minh Hai (quarter 8, Chanh Nghia Ward) said that “Civilized Saturday” is not only a cleaning activity but also an opportunity for people to show solidarity, act together, and join hands to build the locality into a more livable and civilized place.
