As expected, the number of workers in the province this year staying in Binh Duong to welcome the Lunar New Year has increased year on year. Therefore, in addition to preparing Tet gifts for workers, especially workers in difficult circumstances and affected by storms and floods, Binh Duong provincial Trade Union also coordinates with departments and sectors to plan for care of Tet holiday, specifically in a bid to offer employees a happy and peaceful Tet.

The care for material life
According to statistics from all levels of the provincial Trade Union, during the Lunar New Year of 2021, more than 250,000 laborers would not return to their hometown but stay in Binh Duong for Tet. Nguyen Hoang Bao Tran, Deputy Chairwoman of Binh Duong provincial Trade Union, said that the implementation of the Plan No. 75/KH-TLD dated October 30, 2020 of the Vietnam General Trade Union and the direction of Binh Duong provincial Party Committee on the organization of life care activities during the Lunar New Year of 2021, Binh Duong provincial Trade Union Standing Committee has planned to organize Tet care activities more specifically and carefully year on year. In addition to the review and listing of Tet gifts by Binh Duong provincial People's Committee, propaganda and advocacy of units, businesses, employers, especially partners of the Community's welfare program and resources, organizing practical assistance and care activities for union members and employees has been implemented.
According to Tran, through the Tet care activities, the union members and employees will be more aware of the role and responsibility of the collegial organization and have a strong attachment to the union, contributing to the attraction of employees to join the Vietnamese Labor Union and create motivation and encourage union members and employees to work with higher productivity, quality and efficiency and become more and more attached to the businesses. Thereby, Binh Duong provincial Trade Union proposed and was approved by Binh Duong provincial People's Committee to offer 13,250 Tet gifts from the budget of VND 500,000 each to employees who are far away from their hometowns and have extremely difficult circumstances that they cannot return to their hometowns and have to stay in Binh Duong for Tet. The number of Lunar New Year gifts of 2021 is proposed by Binh Duong provincial Trade Union to increase to 2,100 parts from 2020. Binh Duong provincial People's Committee is considering giving additional 5,000 gifts of VND 500,000 per person for cases of workers of special circumstances, in difficulties and losing jobs, resuming jobs, and decreasing income due to the effects of the Covid-19 epidemic.
Implementing welfare programs for union members, Binh Duong provincial Trade Union proactively proposes to partners of welfare program to implement incentive programs on product and service prices during Tet. Welfare points of sales will be located in centers where workers live in large numbers to facilitate purchases. Binh Duong provincial Labor Union also mobilizes enterprises in the locality to produce and trade in essentials, food, and clothes to offer products as gifts to the poor and disadvantaged workers.
At the same time, the unit organizes the program of ‘Tet of reunion’ at Binh Duong provincial Labor and Culture Center; in coordination with Binh Duong provincial Youth Union to organize activities, including the programs of ‘free market - original price booths, ‘welcoming Tet with the workers' families, praising the innkeeper accompanying workers, ‘warm New Year's Eve’ Tet meals - sharing love’. Especially for this year, the program of ‘spring tour’ is organized for workers to visit historical and cultural relics and other sightseeing, entertainment and recreational zones, in bid to implement many programs to offer Tet to worker. Nguyen Hoang Bao Tran said: “We directly, above the grassroots levels, carry out the implementation plan at their levels and direct the grassroots to coordinate with the enterprises to organize activities. Currently, the programs are being carried out comprehensively.”
Recreational activities
The organization of cultural, entertainment and recreational activities for union members and workers at the enterprise before, during and after Tet is being carried out. All union levels coordinate with the cultural department and the Management Board of the industrial zones to organize entertainment programs, food competitions and decoration etc. to create a useful playground for union members and workers.
For this year, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has proposed 9 firework locations to serve local people as well as workers, including Binh Duong New City Center (Toyota building area at Hoa Phu ward , Thu Dau Mot City); Green Square Trade and Service Center at Dong Hoa Ward, Di An city; Nguyen Trai quarter, Lai Thieu ward, Thuan An city; DT746 extended route at Tan Uyen town; the area of Convention and Exhibition Center and Ben Cat Town Square; area in front of Bac Tan Uyen District People's Committee; Center for Culture, Information and Sports of Dau Tieng district; Stadium of Phu Giao district and administrative center area of Bau Bang district.
Concurrently, the activities to welcome the Lunar New Year and celebrate CPV and the spring of 2021 will include ideal entertainment spots for workers to welcome Tet in Binh Duong this year.
