Le Hong Tuoi, Head of Ben Cat town’s Division of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (DoLISA) said that implementing preferential policies in the national target program on poverty reduction, the town’s DoLISA in the first nine months of 2020 gave Tet care for 331 poor households with more than VND496million; coordinated with communes, wards to grant more than 1,000 health insurance cards to the poor. The town also realized support on power cost for 892 poor households; made school fee exemption and reduction for the offspring of poor and near-poor households…
Under provincial People’s Committee’s Decision No.1252/QD-UBND dated May 14, 2020, as of August 2020, the town supported more than VND760million for 1,014 poor and near-poor households affected by Covid-19 pandemic. The local poor and near-poor households also got support from many other charity organizations and agencies.
For the poor
Over the past time, Ben Cat town’s Fatherland Front Committee (FFC) actively made socialization in mobilizing resources to support the poor. Le Anh Quy, Chairman of the town’s FFC said that the town’s FFC was proactive to advise the town’s People’s Committee on issuing plans to develop the local Fund for the Poor and mobilize locals to actively make contributions to the fund.
Many localities also realized creative measures in the campaign of raising money for the fund and reached positive results. From the fund, the FFC of An Dien commune over the past nine months donated VND5million to a needy family; handed over a charity house worth VND80million to the family of Truong Thi Hong Hue in Kien Dien hamlet; coordinated with relevant units to organize a program of “Nurturing dreams” and supported VND37.9million for Nguyen Thi Nhu Y, a poor pupil with fatal illness. In mid-September, the Women’s Union of Chanh Phu Hoa also mobilized donors to build a charity house worth VND120million for Le Thi Gieng, born in 1942, in quarter 9…
The above-mentioned activities contributed to upholding the fine tradition of “mutual love, mutual affection”. Many programs for the poor linked kind hearts with the poor, helping them rise up for a better life. It is known that more than VND1.18billion was mobilized for the town’s Fund for the Poor last year.
