Considering naming streets in Ben Cat city and bridge connecting Binh Duong and Tay Ninh

*Seven nomination dossiers for title of "Excellent Artisan" unanimously approved

On the afternoon of April 3, Bui Minh Tri, Vice Chairman of provincial People’s Committee, chaired a meeting of provincial Council for Naming and Renaming Streets and Public Works to review naming proposals for several streets in Ben Cat city and a bridge connecting Binh Duong and Tay Ninh provinces.

According to provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (DoCST), the 13 roads currently proposed for naming in Ben Cat city have all been put into use and meet the criteria for naming in accordance with regulations. All names fall within the approved list of street and public facility names in the province. Regarding the naming of the bridge under the construction project connecting Binh Duong and Tay Ninh provinces, provincial DoCST noted that the proposed name “Binh Tay Bridge” is not included in the provincial street name database previously issued by provincial People’s Committee. However, the name has been unanimously agreed upon by departments, sectors, localities and relevant units of both provinces. Therefore, provincial DoCST has recommended provincial Department of Transport to supplement an explanatory report to clarify the significance of the proposed name “Binh Tay Bridge” in comparison with other naming options before submitting it to provincial Council for consideration.

Upon evaluation, the naming proposals for the 13 streets in Ben Cat city and for the Binh Duong–Tay Ninh connecting bridge have met the necessary requirements for submission to provincial Council. These will be forwarded to provincial People’s Committee and People’s Council for final approval under regulations.

Concluding the meeting, Mr. Tri generally agreed with provincial DoCST’s report and the opinions of council members. He approved the proposal to upgrade certain roads in Group 4 to Group 3 in Ben Cat city as suggested by the local authorities. He also requested Ben Cat city to promptly complete and submit necessary documents so that the council may have sufficient grounds to report and seek approval from provincial People’s Committee. Regarding the naming of the bridge connecting Binh Duong and Tay Ninh provinces, Mr. Tri concurred with the proposed name “Binh Tay Bridge” as reported by provincial DoCST.

*On the same afternoon, Bui Minh Tri, Vice Chairman of provincial People's Committee chaired the provincial 4th meeting of the council for the consideration of awarding the titles "People's Artisan" and "Excellent Artisan" in the field of intangible cultural heritage. Accordingly, this round includes seven individual dossiers of persons engaged in intangible cultural heritage activities within the province being reviewed for nomination for the title of "Excellent Artisan."

After hearing detailed contributions and assessments on each nominee’s achievements and contributions from council members, Mr.Tri has agreed to submit seven dossiers nominating individuals for the title of 'Excellent Artisan' in the field of intangible cultural heritage to the Central Council for consideration and recognition.
