Countryside gets thriving

For many people, the word "countryside" still conjures up images of remote, isolated areas with underdeveloped infrastructure and people living in hardship. However, today’s rural areas have transformed significantly, not only in appearance, but also in the material and spiritual lives of the people. The income gap between rural and urban areas has been noticeably reduced.

In recent years, along with the whole country, Binh Duong has effectively implemented the National Target Program on New Rural Development and Sustainable Poverty Reduction for the 2021–2025 period. According to statistics presented at the review conference held yesterday (May 28), all communes in the province have so far met the criteria for advanced news-style rural areas; 12 out of 38 communes have achieved model new-style rural status and 3 out of 6 districts and cities have met the standards or fulfilled their tasks for building new-style rural areas. The total investment capital for the program during this period has exceeded VND 12 trillion. Notably, the poverty reduction program has delivered strong results, with Binh Duong applying a poverty standard 1.3 times higher than the national level.

A visit to the new-style rural districts today reveals the increasingly evident transformation in both the material and spiritual lives of local residents. Numerous rural infrastructure projects have been newly built, upgraded or renovated, gradually meeting the production and living needs of the people. Many new agricultural production models have proven economically effective, creating new jobs and contributing to increased incomes for farmers.

These achievements are the result of the tireless efforts of all-level authorities, sectors, the business community and local residents in implementing the New Rural Development Program over the past years. Many successful models and effective approaches have evolved into a widespread movement, enthusiastically embraced by the political system, the people and the business sector, creating strong momentum for rural economic development. Not stopping at that result, Binh Duong determined that building a new-style rural area is a regular and long-term process, with a starting point, but no end point, developing the rural economy linked to the value chain in the hi-tech, organic, intelligent, sustainable direction towards the highest goal of improving the material and spiritual lives of people in rural areas.
