Recognizing the vital role of young workers in socio-economic development, over the past five years, the Steering Committee of the Project on Uniting and Gathering Young Workers in Thu Dau Mot city has proactively and extensively implemented the project, developing numerous practical models and actively caring for young workers in all aspects of life.
Fostering connection and sharing
The “5-S (Ready, Screen, Arrange, Care and Clean) Boarding House” model is a newly introduced initiative in Thu Dau Mot city, emphasizing legal education, waste sorting at source, tidy living spaces, legal education for children and hygiene maintainance. This model ensures a clean, airy living environment for workers, enhances environmental awareness of environmental protection among residents and promotes personal and collective responsibility.

Through creative approaches, the Steering Committee has launched many meaningful models such as "Compassionate Boarding House – Sentimental Thu Land", "Love-filled Bus”, "Boarding House with Free Wi-Fi", "Legal Bookcase" and "Boarding House with Waste Classification"... These models offer a healthy social space, strengthen community ties and equip young workers with knowledge and life skills.
Tran Van Hung, a young worker from Phu Loi ward shared: “The boarding house community events are really meaningful. We get to meet, talk and join music and sports activities after work. Especially, the “Free Wi-Fi Boarding House” model helps us stay connected with our families and access information easily”.
Understanding that meaningful companionship starts with knowing what young workers need, Thu Dau Mot city’s Youth Union has conducted extensive surveys and on-site visits to dormitories and companies to better understand their desires and challenges. Nguyen Cong Ly, Secretary of Thu Dau Mot city’s Youth Union and Standing Deputy Head of the Steering Committee stated: “Understanding their aspirations is key to building meaningful and in-depth activities. We don’t wait for them to come to us – we go to them and listen”. Based on this approach, local Youth Union and Youth Association branches have launched various practical programs in line with local conditions.
Innovating operational approaches
To attract young workers, the Steering Committee has focused on refreshing operational contents and methods to suit different worker groups. The Youth Union and Associations have actively encouraged young workers to participate in movements such as “Creative Youth”, “Skilled and Innovative Workers”, “Green Sundays”, “Volunteer Saturdays” and “Pink Holiday”, creating a positive environment for them to contribute and help build a prosperous and modern city.
At the same time, efforts have been made to expand the network for uniting and gathering young workers. Currently, the city has established and maintained 365 grassroots units, including youth branches, associations, clubs, teams and groups, creating a wider space for participation, expression, skill development and personal growth.
In addition, the promotion of revolutionary ideals, moral values and a cultural lifestyle has been strengthened through various channels, including official publications, social media platforms such as “Tuoitrebinhduong.vn” and YouTube’s “Thanh nien Binh Duong” channel as well as in-person campaigns, leaflet distribution and competitions. These efforts have helped raise awareness among young workers and encourage them to join community security movements and urban civility campaigns, contributing to the local stability and sustainable development.
The Steering Committee has also paid special attention to discovering, nurturing and recommending outstanding young workers for Party membership. Many young workers, with the support of Youth Union and Associations, have become Party members and pioneering young leaders in quarters and companies. Currently, 43 young workers in the city have been admitted to the Communist Party. At the ward level, local Steering Committees have also proactively developed strategies and activities suited to their respective contexts, effectively replicating successful models and contributing to a widespread and sustainable network of unity. These efforts not only show care for young workers, but also create an environment of bond and mutual support.
Programs such as “Supporting Young Workers Returning Home for Tet”, “Tet Meal Tray”, “Spring Street Festival” and “Spring Bus of Love” have brought warmth and joy to thousands of young workers and their families. Innovative activities from “Weekend Playground” to mobile cinema, folk game booths, legal advice… are all organized lively, creatively and close to the psychology of young people.
Looking back on the five-year implementation of the Project on Uniting and Gathering Young Workers in Thu Dau Mot city, it is clear that this has been a journey of persistence, creativity and dedication from Youth Union and Association organizations. The project's success stems not only from the efforts of youth officers, but also from the contributions of the young workers who are actively shaping a more modern, civilized city.
In 2025 alone, Thu Dau Mot city’s Youth Union and Youth Federation have launched numerous meaningful programs, especially the “Supporting Young Workers Returning Home for Tet” program, benefiting over 1,000 people. More than 600 free meals, bottles of water, snacks, fruits and secondhand items were distributed. Activities like “Tet Meal Tray”, “Spring Street Festival”, “Spring Bus of Love” and “Banh Chung and Banh Tet Making Festival” created a warm, inclusive Tet atmosphere for young workers and their children, with total social contributions valued at hundreds of millions of dong. |
