Cultivating habits to shape lifestyles

The implementation of Project 02, titled "Mass Mobilization Work to Participate in Building a Cultural and Civilized Lifestyle in Binh Duong Province, Period 2021-2025," has prompted numerous schools in the province to engage in a variety of practical activities. These initiatives have significantly contributed to the establishment of a green, clean, and beautiful school environment while fostering students' character development through civilized behavior and exemplary conduct.

Teachers and students engage in tree planting as part of the "Civilized Saturday" initiative

Disseminate with efficiency

Project 02, initiated by the Standing Committee of the Binh Duong Provincial Party Committee, distinctly emphasizes the significance of mass mobilization efforts in harnessing the intrinsic strength of the populace, fostering consensus, and collaboratively advancing a cultural and civilized lifestyle. Notably, educational institutions are regarded as a pivotal setting for disseminating positive cultural values.

In response to the initiative aimed at fostering a cultured and virtuous lifestyle, the educators and students of Tan Phuoc Khanh Secondary School (Tan Uyen City) have engaged in numerous specific and practical activities that contribute to the establishment of a green, clean, and beautiful school environment. The campaigns organized by the Teachers' Union emphasized the removal of illegal advertisements and classified ads, the cleaning of both the interior and exterior of the campus, and the planting and maintenance of trees along the fence, parking area, and flower beds within the school grounds.

Tan Phuoc Khanh Secondary School stands out as a pioneer in the integration of information technology into tree care initiatives. All staff, teachers, and employees are tasked with the responsibility of planting and nurturing a minimum of two trees, either on campus or at their residences. Each individual is required to monitor and update the progress of tree growth through a QR code twice weekly, specifically on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and to report directly to the educational institution as well as the City Department of Education and Training. This synergy between environmental protection efforts and digital transformation not only enhances management and oversight efficiency but also fosters a heightened sense of responsibility among teachers and students in preserving the educational environment, thereby cultivating a culture of moral integrity within the school community.

Phu Hoa Secondary School, located on Nguyen Thai Binh Street in Thu Dau Mot City, has utilized its campus of over 100 square meters to establish a "Medicinal Herb Garden and Experimental Vegetable Garden." This area is collaboratively maintained by both teachers and students, who cultivate a variety of familiar green vegetables and medicinal plants, including green mustard, Malabar spinach, Polyscias fruticosa, Plantago, lily, and basil.

Ms. Trinh Hong Hai, one of the educators overseeing the garden, stated: “The garden commenced operations in January 2024, with the objective of familiarizing students with the names and applications of vegetables and traditional medicines. This initiative not only serves an educational purpose but also allows students to apply their knowledge practically, ranging from cooking to health care. While the majority of the maintenance is managed by teachers, many students express great enthusiasm, frequently seizing opportunities during recess or after school to engage in gardening activities.”

In addition to the "Medicinal Herb Garden and Experimental Vegetable Garden" model, the school regularly implements the "Civilized Saturday" program, which involves the participation of cadres, teachers, staff, and students. Together, they engage in cleaning and maintaining the greenery, thereby enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the school environment while promoting awareness of environmental protection. Notably, many parents also contribute by providing seedlings, further fostering a clean and welcoming learning atmosphere that aligns with the school's commitment to a "green - clean - beautiful" ethos.

Cultivate positive habits

While fulfilling his teaching responsibilities and engaging actively in the Youth Union, Mr. Bui Xuan Truong, a teacher at Tran Quoc Toan Primary School in Thuan An City, is consistently committed to fostering a cultured and virtuous lifestyle within the school environment. For him, this endeavor transcends mere educational activities; it serves as the cornerstone for shaping students' character.

From this enthusiasm, numerous impactful initiatives have been implemented at the school, yielding tangible results. A prime example is the "Clean School Drum" model. Each time the drum sounds, rather than engaging in typical break-time activities, all students collectively proceed to the yard to pick up litter and tidy the school. The students organize the tasks by class, with each individual assigned a specific role, collaboratively gathering leaves, trash, and candy wrappers in designated areas. The sight of hundreds of students and teachers working in unison to clean the schoolyard creates a striking image reminiscent of a diligent swarm of bees, fostering a spirit of responsibility and an awareness of the importance of maintaining a green, clean, and beautiful environment.

In addition to his previous efforts, Mr. Bui Xuan Truong has also pioneered numerous innovative initiatives aimed at promoting civilized lifestyles. Notable examples include "Exchanging Trash for Gifts" and the "Green Classroom," which features nature displays, as well as weekly tree donation events. These activities significantly enhance school life and foster a joyful learning environment.

In collaboration with the school's Youth Union, Mr. Bui Xuan Truong actively sustains and enhances environmental protection education initiatives through various methods, including waste sorting at the source, awareness campaigns, flag-raising ceremonies, and experiential activities during recess. Furthermore, he encourages members of the school's youth union to engage proactively in movements such as "Friday for the Environment," "Volunteer Saturday," "Green Sunday," and "Green Library." These programs play a significant role in promoting the ethos of sustainable living and community action throughout the school.

Recently, schools in the province have been undertaking numerous collaborative initiatives to foster a civilized and culturally enriched lifestyle. These initiatives include planting trees and flower gardens on school grounds and along surrounding roads, as well as managing and ensuring food hygiene and safety both within schools and at their entrances. Concurrently, various units have been engaged in the development of civilized, green, clean, beautiful, and safe school environments, exemplified by the establishment of secure school entrances and the deployment of traffic control personnel during peak hours. Efforts to eliminate school violence have been emphasized, alongside the organization of extracurricular activities aimed at raising environmental awareness among students. Initiatives such as the collection of recycled milk cartons, the provision of trash bins, and the classification of waste at the source have been implemented. Additionally, there has been a concerted effort to educate and encourage parents and students to adhere to traffic regulations and safety measures, while actively participating in tree planting and maintenance activities.
