Morning September 8th, Cultural – Social Commission under Provincial People’s Council had a meeting with Department of Health, Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, and Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism on the population - family planning in the 2011-2015 period. Mr. Nguyen Minh Giao, Member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of Propaganda Training Committee, Head of Cultural – Social Commission Provincial People’s Council chaired the meeting.
According to provincial Department of Health, in 2014, provincial population was 1,873,558, and was estimated at 1,918,558 in late 2015. In the 2011- 2015, average population growth was 1.03%/year, average reduced birth rate was 0.3%/year. Gender structure was relatively even, total male population accounted for 48.27%, sex ratio was 93.56 males/ 100 females. Age structure was rather young, population in working age accounted for 75.6%, population aged 60 and more accounted for 5%. The population’s quality was improved in terms of economy, health, intelligence, and spirit. Average life expectancy was 75.4.
In the 2011- 2015, the province also performed projects to improve the quality of population. However, the industrial development of the province has absorbed a large number of young people from other provinces and cities nationwide to work in Binh Duong. Therefore, mechanical population has increased and was accompanied by many difficulties in population and family planning.
At the meeting, delegates of Cultural – Social Commission, of departments, agencies and sectors gave their opinions on the propaganda and implementation of population and family planning; the merger of district health centers; limited operational expenses; insufficient equipment…
